Solwezi RTSA Cashier Gets 2 Years
The Solwezi Magistrate’s Court has imposed a two-year jail sentence with hard labour on a 33-year-old cashier of Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) for stealing K15, 680 cash from his employers.
This is in a case in which Michael Mwamba of Magrade extension in Solwezi was charged with theft by public servant.
Mwamba was jointly charged with his supervisor Alex Amukena but the latter was acquitted on grounds of insufficient evidence.
In his judgment, magistrate Maxwell Mainsa said theft by public servant is a serious offence.
He said the money that Mwamba stole was meant to benefit the public.
Mr Mainsa said the State had managed to prove a case against Mwamba and convicted him accordingly.
“I sentence you to two years imprisonment with hard labour and if you are not happy , you can appeal to the High Court within 14 days,” he said.
Mwamba and Amukena on dates unknown but between August 1 and August 2 last year in Solwezi, jointly stole K15, 680.00 cash.
During trial, Mr Amukena testified that on the fateful day, the money collected on the previous day went missing from the safe.
Mr Amukena told the court that when Mwamba was informed about the missing money, he accused him of allegedly stealing the cash because he had access to the combination of the safe.
He testified that police decided to jointly charge him with Mwamba for theft by public servant.

too sad my guy Mwamba, God is in control, leave vengeance to him, he ll avenge for u,,,,,sad reading, see u wen i come back to solwezi.Alex is supposed to be arrested also fr negligence, wakakisha munobe u will reap wat u hv sown,,,,the lord is watching.
