SIX teenage boys of Kitwe’s Kwacha township have pleaded not guilty to stabbing a 32-year-old man with intent to rob him.
This is a case in which the two 16-year-olds, two aged 17 and others being 18 and 19 are all facing one count of aggravated assault with intent to steal.
When the matter came up for plea before Kitwe senior magistrate Daniel Musonda yesterday, the juveniles denied the allegations levelled against them.
Particulars of the offence are that the boys on January 4 this year in Kitwe, jointly and whilst acting together stabbed Peter Kansinka with intent to steal.
The juveniles asked the court to grant them bail but the state objected, urging the court that the Mr Kansinka was admitted to hospital and is in a critical condition.
“Your honour, we object to the application from the juveniles. If the complainant was in a stable condition, we would not have objected to the application,” prosecutor Anderson Ngala stated.
Magistrate Musonda adjourned the matter to February 9 this year for ruling and commencement of trial.
