Dandy Dispels ‘Crazy’ Tribal Remarks

MUSICIAN Wesley Chibambo populary known as Dandy Krazy, has dispelled online media assertions alleging that he posted derogatory remarks against a particular tribe on his Facebook page.
The Dibili Dibili singer, said he was forced to cancel the show last Friday because some people in the area threatened to beat him up for allegedly referring to them as ‘chickens’, assertions he denies.
In a telephone interview at the weekend, Chibambo, however, admitted having exchanged words with an unidentified person who posted disparaging comments on his Facebook page.
“I was threatened and some people said they would kill me….if I quarrel with one person, it does not mean that I have quarrelled with all the people of that tribe.
“I quarrelled with someone with a Facebook name called Man Munde who posted on my Facebook page saying that as a musician, I am not supposed to be partisan and that I am chicken-minded for doing so. He even insulted me a lot…So I also responded to him (Man Munde) that I would rather be a chicken than be like him,” the singer, who is set to release the Kolopa.com album, says.
The dreadlocked singer said he was shocked to learn of online media reports alleging that he referred to the tribe as chickens when he only quarrelled with one person.
Dandy, who was once honoured with the Companion Order of Freedom First Division, said he has a lot of respect for all his fans.
“I grew up with people from different parts of the country and I can never make a tribal remark against anyone. If I argue with one person, it doesn’t mean I have offended the entire community,” he said.

Well I have realised that most of you here are brainless. I would rather stay away from this. I am a Tonga and I have literally nothing against the Bembas or even any other tribe. I have seen Tongas who are thieves just as much as I have seen Bembas and easterners in the same state. I have also seen dirty Bembas and even any other people from other tribes. All of you that are being tribal are just being childish. Please stop the rubbish or you will scare a lot of us especially christians from here. We are here to offer solutions and not problems. All of you have to mature up. Stop the hate and stop malice. You are only destroying yourselves by being tribal. These false names that you are giving yourselves here are the ones contributing to this. If you are brave enough give real names and identity and let us see if you will continue saying these things. Do you know who you are insulting in the final analysis when you say such things? Do not call for trouble on yourself. I am too proud to expose myself to fighting and insults. You people here are childish.

Stereotyping…..mpooma thanks so much…as much as we pretend to denounce tribalism..to some extent we re showing how tribal we are by over reacting.anyway i always get comforted by this assurance “we re made in the image of God”
As mpooma notices i ve never ever believed all bembas are thieves and i am proudly married to a bemba wife..my brothers inlaw are even more responsible than my own brothers. So whether Dandy Crazy said it or not for as long as he is human conscience is haunting him.If we want unity the best way to handle this is not to spread the misdeeds of Dandy(proverbs 17:9).

An insult is just an insult. It does not make anyone less a chicken. A lot of bembas are pleased with Dandy’s remarks and wish he could say more but it costed him and will cost some more. He has just opened he pandora box. Remember KK, Madyenkuku, & Mwananjiti’s remarks at Mazoka’s funeral was and still being enchoed todate despite HH distancing himself from these people and despite them joining PF some. Tribal remarks in any form are far reaching. He has made people think deeper why he would even have courage to perform in Choma when Mashimbe cant go to perform in Shiwang’andu. Some crafty bembas such this media are on the splendid isolation of SP just because for a time now SP has remained resolute. They (bembas) are looking for credulous grouping. Now, this not strange. They would do the same to NWP, WP, CP. Already they have infultrated CP with bemba as a subject even in rural CP, & have encouraged Solis to learn chichewa. Since when did lenjes and solis became a dialect of bemba and Nyanja respectively? Despite this, they are not ready to accept a lenje or soli. Remember LPM how he was voted in 2001 & 2006 despite FTJ in NP, Luapula. This time people are beginning to know this, no wonder that voting in Chongwe, Rufunsa, Mwembeshi, Chisamba, Keembe, Kapiri, Mumbwa, Masaiti, Kafukafuta, Lufwanyanama, Chilanga, Kafue, plus the genuine people of Sinda. With such remarks from fortunate illeterate like Dandy it becomes quiety unfortunate for a nation like ours. Look at Red Linso, Malembe Malembe, how partisan they were. Dandy simply brought what Some bembas discuss in their bedrooms.

But Gumugumu, why do you think Dandy is Bemba? Why are you so very much against the Bembas? I am beginning to conclude that yes us Tongas have that hate for Bembas for whatever reason and it is a shame. Dandy crazy is not Bemba. Well even if he was Bemba, why would you bring all Bembas into this? Please let us stop this kind of thinking I would advise. For Dandy to come and perform in the southern even after those remarks clearly shows to me that he never meant what he said. It might have been as a result of provocation. Gumugumu how old are you by the way? I really want to know how old people here are so that we can discuss and see issues from a totally different angle. Note that I have decided to stay just to try and see if people can start thinking straight.

“I am beginning to conclude that yes us Tongas have that hate for Bembas”

Defeats the point you are trying to correct for you are already generalizing Tonga and Bemba, narrow it down to Dandy, Gumugumu and yourself!

I’m not Tonga but such remarks are very unfortunate. Dandy needs to sale his cds even in the southern province. That’s the problem with our musicians. Once they are given few coins they behave differently.

Dandy just own up and apologise and if possible go to Tonga land and have an open concert.

    Do the damage control now.

There is an issue in Zambia, and from the look of things, there are certain tribes who are scared of getting completely erased off just like the Ngonis who no longer know their own language but are stsck with CHICWEWA. Bemba as as a people are just a few people and small tribe, but are so virulant that they influenced all the other neighbouring tribes like Namwanga, Bisa,Swaka,Lunda Lubanza from Luapula and several others to forget about their languages. In fact if you were to go in History, Language loss is a very big issue. Talk about Scotich, Welsh and Irish all have disappeared. The language issue is a powerful tool to surpress others. So never you look at this issue very lightly, it has a very big gravity such that if not checked Zambia will have one language at last. Talk about SWAHILI that has engulfed the whole East Africa and absorbing all Bantu Languages. Those who are pationate about it should do it quaetly if they want to spread their language without getting noted else others will start resisting and that is where the problems start from. By design Languages are DYNAMIC and this is accepted by renowned scientist, but not extincting one language or tribe , it becomes a crime.

@ fuManchu, in tonga we say “katanga lulu kaaluzya matanganyina,,,,,,jst one bad g/nut , can course the other 10 good ones go bad” so Dandy was very specific to say he can not be “Tonga” dats a general term hence if he is generalising himself to be Bemba not a single musician, we hv power to reteriate en defend our tribe fr us en our unborn children. The Tonga-Bemba bad relations had long been therr now Dandy crazy hs jst soured it more coz of his primitivity in a civilised community,,,,,,hence dandy is a monkey,,,we shall help u nicely in sp.

Let us all start seeing things from a different angle. Tit-for-tat kind of arrangement does not really help in life. We all have situations in life but it is how we handle them that matters in the final analysis. It is only when you pound or grind and mix those 10 g/nuts with the bad one that you will not be able to notice the difference. As long long as this does not happen the 10 will remain good. @me too, think about this simple thing I have said. this is the different angle I am trying to talk about. I may not have put it across very well but all I am suggesting is try to think differently. Let us use wisdom and not education or anything else in this case.
