THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) medical team on Friday picked four Zambia under-17 national team players for a random magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan.
The scan is used to determine the age of players to avoid age cheating.
The four who were subjected to the test are goalkeeper Albert Mwanza, defender Alfred Chirwa, midfielder Ngosa Sunzu and striker Peter Nyirenda.
The four were not part of the qualifying race.
The players were taken for testing two hours after the junior Chipolopolo set base at Hotel Sahel in Niamey, Niger.
Team manager Goodson Mboozi confirmed the incident on Friday and expressed confidence that the four would not be found with a case to answer.
“Zambia has the best MRI machine in Africa and we are sure that all the players will come out clean. But again, you cannot know these machines,” he said.
And most of the players were not impressed with the food they ate on Friday.
The players ate cowpeas and beef for supper and had only rice for lunch.
However, the players have vowed not to let food issues ruin their plans of getting a World Cup slot.
Meanwhile, delegation leader Lee Kawanu is happy with the reception accorded to the team.
“We are confortable because this is Africa and the standards are like this,” said Kawanu, who is also Football Association of Zambia executive committee member.

If he is old,he is old,no minus or plus to that ok,but age cheating in football is part of the game also.
