Government has announced a reduction in mealie meal prices.
Agriculture and Livestock Minister Given Lubinda announced the reduction in mealie meal prices in Lusaka today at a media briefing.
Mr Lubinda says the wholesale price of a 25kg bag of breakfast will now be K61.00 from K65.00 while a 25 kg bag of roller meal will now cost K44.00 from K52.00.
Mr Lubinda says the reduction in mealie meal prices follows consultations with relevant stakeholders.
good move honorable.
Given lubinda aisa bane
Hon Lubinda our major concern is retail
price.
As usual, criticizers come aboard now.
@ m j banda…Call us checkers….well good work Given. Ive always had respect for you and have never doubted your capabilities….ndiye ma politicians aba. HOWEVER, a K5 reduction is very minimum. A lot of people will still not be able to afford mealie meal. Mind you this is our stable food….
It’s time we changed our staple food to something else; like millet or kandolo. Ifibwali epo twatampila.
As a Checker for the current Govt, I say good move anything to do with improving people’s lives and alleviating poverty – I give a thumb up.
EXCELLENT WORK LUBINDA.
THIS IS ACTION ORIENTED LEADERSHIP, WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR.
KEEP IT UP.
Infact this is the only person who would have carried Sata’s vision forward not the so called Vodka Lungu….malabishi!!
Nice one!Uwushitasha ni mwana wanfwiiti.Ba Given u’ve got sum drop dead gorgeous gud lukin daughters,ka hook up with 1 of ’em atshani?
Silly boy with no class or standards at all. Typical of the PF cadres, all they ever do is steal, commit adultery and when things get bad commit suicide. We in UPND have alot of work to do in 2016 when we win. We need to change the mindset of ignorant pillocks like this one
good move hon. Let us work hard
Mr Lubinda he’s the only man I support in PF
what about retail prices?do not play games here ok.
EXCELLENT MOVE BY HONORABLE LUBINDA (ZA YELLOW). WE NEED A MINISTERS LIKE LUBINDA AND NOT OTHERS WHO WOULD WANT TO BE REMINDED OF WHAT TO DO. NOW, HONORABLE, ADVISE YOUR FELLOW MINISTER OF LAB-OUR HONORABLE SHAMENDA TO ABOLISH CASUALISATION. CASUALISATION IS TOO MUCH IN PARASTATALS LIKE ZESCO. THE NEW MD OF ZESCO, COULD YOU ALSO TACKLE THIS ISSUE URGENTLY. CONTRACTS ARE ALL OVER, WHY.
good move BUT the reduction is too minimal i xpected something lik k12 reduction so dat even dat poor old man/lady from zani muone can buy breakfast mealie meal
secondly yo reduction is at k61 at wholesale meaning at retail da price will be at k65 , the problem is dat u fail to meet da end user priority as it stands there z no reduction at end user stage(retail).
shamenda is a FAILED OLD CHAP, actually he is contributing to da destruction of good living standard en well being of da citizenry,,,old man
Good step you are at work now.
So, price controls are back!
Does this Govt. want to take over milling plants from the private sector?
New economic policies, indeed!
mealie meal should have been reduced to below a k25 mark for a 25kg. most zambians access this vital commodity at pamela level due to insufficient income at household level. this means a 1kg pamela would sell at k1 than is the case at above k8. this reduction is not even sufficient to the next close substitute wheat pruducts e.g bread. this is a joke.
Rather than just say price reductions are in effect we need to know what the cost was for this decision by the stakeholders. One thing zambians should realise is that nothing is free. There is nothing to be excited about a command policy to reduce prices. I will only be happy when the adam smith’s invisible hand is in operation and the prices of commodities change in relation to what is pertaining on the ground. What we term market forces There could be implications for this reduction, negative ones. Vote UPND for transparency and market related changes
Mmmm bane is it staple food or stable food
I somehow feel this new educated is hh he is too posesed with upnd .all he wants is upnd and hh to rule.u must be very ugly
GOOD MOVE HONOURABLE: WHAT ABOUT TRANSPORT? PUT ACTION BA MINISTER OF TRANSPORT,YOU MUST BE SHAMEFUL WHEN YOUR FELLOW MINISTERS ARE PUTTING IT IN TO ACTIONS.NOT JUST TALKING TALKING, WE ARE FADEUP.
nice move za yellow.its time to work not politicking
We are now implementing H.H’S vision.
on reduction of mealie meal.
BUT WHAT about the USD DOLLAR which is now at K7.50 from K6.00.
Iwe ka new educatd noko ichinyo kwitobo kolokombwa iwe tomba nkashi wobe stanyoko!!Were winged from HH’s d!ck?We knw,u rily want atention aiyi?elo wiso akulangile ati kwaliba social media.machende yako galu iwe nwana wansanya iwe.Phuck yo ancestors abakunyele makaka.
Here is proof that education really is important.I have given this fool constructive opinions and the best he can do is come up with insults. It also shows what household he comes from. We in the UPND will ensure that rifrafs such as this one are giving work to do in cooperative farms in rural areas. Rather than them sitting all day scratching their buttocks and hoping to see development. We will ensure we also teach them interpersonal skills. We have alot of work to do. Mapwazi yaba mbuye bako mukamwa mwako. mukungu yako. mwana wa imbwa iwe
In which country are u going to ENSURE something as u claim, coz even if kwacha against dollar becomes k15 we still cant/wont/will NEVER vote 4 HH.We can even vote for Dan pule than HH if he ws the only option available. What it means is that we hate HH regardless of how good he might be
Young man, you seem to have a very limited ability to effectively utilise the queen’s language. What ‘we’ are you talking about? Speak for yourself! I am very sure you are not equivalent to 14 million Zambians. You are the perfect example of what it is to be irreversibly ignorant. You are an excused person because there is no hope. Please let us vote HH and he will ensure disabled people such as this boy are given the help they need
At list our votes cast on 20th January are being rewarded. Now comrade lubinda, its better we continue buying at k65.ka k5 kachepesha saana.
a common man from ku komboni will not feel the reduction wemukaamba Given.
New educ support PF
I cannot understand what you are saying. Anyway all differences aside bane, have a lovely weekend. I am spending mine with my other half. Today i will be watching my favourite shows and sipping on a few cans of stella artois. I will try hard to respond to you and offer my very expensive views on issues over the weekend. I live you with a great saying,” if you think education is expensive, try ignorance. Dueces bane
“I LIVE YOU WITH…”
Yeah, probably a constituent of ‘New’ education thatchurned out New Educated Zambia.
Yo vulgarities ‘re a remix 2 mine ka chikala.I was actin lyk u imbercile wen i gat my 1st bike, nalisamwa sana,in this case wiso got u a ka chines phone with entrnet elo nomba tuchulilemo musurunyoko chinyo mutanu iwe.
I tend to use my very powerful phone for more important business. I prefer the luxury and convenience of blogging here using my very powerful and fast laptop. Have a good weekend mwana wandi. I know I have streched your brain alot this week. Take a break and have a few cans before the start of another stressful weekend next week. Good evening
Lol awemwandi tushako pantu wanasha ichalo.AM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
I would be very glad to come back to Zambia if things are moving like that. Look at the interest of the people first. Thank you ba PF.
kofi u stay in chibolya compound, stop pretending
The main miss is that Government negotiates with the sole stakeholder – producer – leaving the target stakeholder – Consumer- in the so called consultations. This cannot work for the consumer.
Why do people like showing off here when in actual fact it’s the computer which has been set to auto control and if given chance to exculpate u will fail
The first question that came to my mind was “What parameters were considered in effecting this reduction? Was it transport costs? FRA offloading of cheap raw material? Subsidy?
We are in the middle of a ‘questionable’ maize production season at which time the laws of supply & demand may not favour a reduction then govt announces this reduction? Well, before I congratulate or condemn anybody, I need to get to the root of the forces at play here.
kakolwe for the first time you have read my comments and actually taken on some sense and asked the very questions i was trying to provoke in the minds of the lay man. This is more like it! I hope more people can comment on this matter
Nope!! Just realise that for the first time, your brains have decided to follow reason & somehow come close to mine. I always say what you saw today. Congrats to you too! Coz this is the first comment in your blogging life without the words ‘PF, UPND, VOTE, 2016 and Cadre’. You are improving.
tatu, this new educated is jane mulenga
Kabiye uko, kanyele kutali iwe mambala. for the millionth time i am not that lady. Let her rest wherever she might be. Learn to respond to the issues i am raising you trivial chap
New educated has the limited ability of thinking, and i think this is due to low level of education plus tongalism
This is coming from a dunderhead that has not given any view on the matter. I have clearly given my view on this issue of reduction. Please read the comment on top where i questioned this decrease in price without any valid economic reason re:market forces etc.. If you choose to only see ignorance in everything that is tabled to you, you will forever remian a foolish clueless cadre
imwe ba education sitanyoko, ushe social medha yenufye na coments ayabupuba, lets try reason b4 we post anything,if u want upnd and hh to go thru change de leadership chapwa wen one is born a failiur wll never change so stop posting stupid things fool!
Iwe you are very slow. Please refer to my comment on top that had the inference to adam smith and the invisible hand. You choose to see the bull shit and irrelevant bits of my comments and take those more serious than the linkages with the articles. Typical of the PF cadres. They cannot pick out sense. Very dull chaps. Read back and comment on that.
