Love Letter Leads To Suicide
AN 18-YEAR-OLD Grade nine pupil at Chitungu Primary School in Solwezi’s Kalumbila area has allegedly committed suicide after he was caught with a love letter in class written to his girlfriend who is a fellow pupil at the school.
North-Western Province senior staff officer Hackson Mwiinga said in an interview on Wednesday that Praise Ikowa of Chitundu Clinic compound in Kalumbila killed himself.
Mr Mwiinga said the boy went missing at around 12:00 hours on Monday after a teacher who caught him with the love letter exposed the story to fellow pupils at the school who started laughing at him.
“After the whole thing was made public and the teacher having castigated the boy over this love letter, the boy disappeared and was later found dead in a bush near the school around 13:15 hours on Tuesday,” he said.
Mr Mwiinga said police picked the body and took it to Solwezi General Hospital mortuary awaiting burial as they do not suspect any foul play.

Stupid teacher indeed.Why not calling the boy and he just give him proper counselling over what he did. Is love of two people something to get involved? Maybe the teacher also had interest in the boy’s girlfriend.

You are foolish and irresponsible. What has love got to do with a Grade 9 pupil instead of concentrating in school work. Maybe you do not have a child and hence do not know how to buy not even a pencil for your child. Please comment responsibly.

This makes very sad reading. The teacher is the worst bully in this case to the point of driving the poor child to commit suicide. He must be severely reprimanded even prosecuted. The whole case begs for professional school Counsellors to be employed in all schools to help students cope with social and academic problems.

the teacher should face disciplinary action..TEACHER you are there to teach, guide pupils and not to embarrass and bring shame to pupils..you are a builder not destroyer…..you could have simple cautioned the boy privately and make him understand what is important at his age..etc

In this case the teacher misbehaved. Should we say he had interest in the girl or what?
He needs to be probed as to ascertain why he reached such extents of exposing the boy when the administration mandated to handle all such cases were there.
It is normal for grown up school children to fall in love although school authorities do not tolerate relationship exposition.
Many among married couples started their relationships at school.

The parents of the victim can still sue the teacher.A person who causes another human being, by force, duress, or deception, to commit suicide or causing suicide, its a felony in the courts of law.

As I stated yesterday, one can see a trend of an increase in suicides based on flimsy reasons ever since september 2011. The trend has also gotten worse since another drunk took over in january 2015. The people have been failed and poverty has led to them overreacting to simple things.When one is hungry he can kill himself over simple things. Vote UPND for sensible economic management.

teacher has nothing to do with the possesed boy. both teacher and boy non was wrong since each one of them was right until the boy’s embarassment erupted at the time he was cought in the sagger, the thing that equally caused the teacher’s embarasment in the same sagger until he/she felt offending even when he was trying to instil disciplin by setting an example to who would be the offender which every teacher does. i therefore, and on my behalf set the teacher free from any form of antagonism and blame.
