Edgar Orders Those Who Oppose His Presidency To Leave Zambia

Edgar Lungu

Edgar Lungu

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has ordered those who have not accepted his presidency to leave the country and has further warned that he would crush those undermining his authority in the PF.

And President Lungu yesterday thanked Rupiah Banda and the MMD for helping him win the January 20 election, adding that he was a man who keeps his words and promises. The Head of State said this in Chawama yesterday where he went to thank the voters and to bid farewell to people in his former constituency.

Edgar Lungu Misis ChawamaAddressing residents, President Lungu said he deserved respect from every Zambian. “Those who accept me as President, I will work with them and give them support. I am head of the state, I am head of the Republic of Zambia. Those who don’t accept me as President should go away from Zambia. The reason is simple, because if you don’t accept me as President, you are likely to offend me by breaking the law of the land and I will tell the police to pounce on you,” he said.

“I will work with those supporting me, but those who don’t want [should] leave us alone. If they don’t, I will crush them. I will crush them like a machine of bricks. So it’s advisable for them to go away now and leave the party alone.”
President Lungu further warned that he would not hesitate to sort out party members undermining him like he dealt with those whom he left out of his government.

“Those who were fighting me in their sleep and in their daydreams, I had no option but to part company with them and I am only human. Time for me to fight is gone, both in the nation and the party. I expect people to cooperate with me as Head of State and head of the party,” he added.
“There is only one Zambia, one nation, one President and that’s me. I am President because of you and there is a law in this country which is the Constitution, which regulates how we should behave, one towards the other, and my fear is if you do not accept the fact that I am President, you are most likely to offend the law, whether it is in the party or the Republic.”
And President Lungu said he did not want to learn bad habits by listening to people like those who were advising him to order police to arrest cadres who beat up a woman at Soweto Market recently.

“Some politicians were telling me, ‘Why don’t you arrest those people who beat up that women in Soweto (Market).’ I said, ‘ The police are doing their job and I am monitoring and that the assailant who beat up the woman was on the run and police assured me that they would arrest him.’ I kept quiet. They asked me, ‘What kind of a President are you? You are not ordering the police to arrest them.’ But my worry is, these habits start slowly and small; one day I will order the police to arrest you the same one who is asking me. So don’t teach me bad habits,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Lungu said he appointed Mwandi MMD member of parliament Michael Kaingu and his Chipangali counterpart, Vincent Mwale, into his Cabinet as one way of fulfilling the promises he made to the opposition party.

“I am grateful to Mr Rupiah Banda and Nevers Mumba for having supported me. It is common knowledge that the PF had problems before the elections… I managed to become President with the help of some colleagues from the MMD, that is why I poached two colleagues from the MMD to come and work with us,” said President Lungu.

“It shows that we want to work with them because we promised our colleagues that ‘we will work together if you help us win’. We still have a group of people in politics who keep their words and promises and I am one of them.”

I’m PF and Lungu supporter. Nevertheless I suggest Lungu attend leadership course ASAP. A leader must embrace all. He seem to be scared of his own pipo. Why.

I think I have suggested to Mr. Lungu to ask for wisdom from God on this forum or others. He must consider himself as a leader. A leader for those supporting and for the haters. The best he can do is to listen to those he thinks are enemies and get sense out of whatever nonsense they are saying or doing. I would say it is healthy to have enemies.Crushing the enemies will not help as it will only create more enemies I promise. Winning the enemies back to you Mr EL is the best you can do. Please pray for wisdom because the bible is very clear about enemies.

I salute your comment. Just something terribly wrong with his personal judgement, naivety and obsession with being worshiped he actually said 9 times the sentence “Me as a president or me as head of state”!

In a democracy not everyone can agree with a President (infact even in a dictatorship) especially given the narrow victory Edgar Lungu had the differences within the PF proir to the election, but to utter suach words is alarming considering he is the Head of State. Even Mugabe who seems to be his mentor has never said this to his indegenous people. before this he does not care if he is out in 2016. This does not give confidence to us citizens but to the contrary.

We can’t be surprised when we hear a UPND member or suppers insults because it’s one of the party’s policy,as far as am concerned the president is 100% right, lungu is the biological father of all zambians,be it HH,NM,EC,EN,EC,WK,PS,CM.as long as the God iam serving is the living one,UPND will never form government with a so called tonga at the helm of it especially HH because tonga is a cursed tribe, they are servants of satan yet zambia is a christian nation, iam 100% sure that one day all tongas will come to realize that zambia’s presidency can never go their side,PF for life,

Indeed the president should seek more wisdom from God and stay focused on doing his work and have confidence in himself that he is the president as everyone knows. He does not need to be mentioning it every time that he is president. Just do good for every Zambian and people will respect you and support you. God bless Zambia.

EL was closest to Chilufya, now he is learning from KK, he has hand overtones from fellow lawyer Mwanawasa and will avoid the mistakes of FTJ. lets give him space. He may just turn out to be the best president!

The President is perfectly correct! There are those persons who just want to criticise for the heck of criticism, with neither basis nor premise. And in addition, they insult the Presidency, as if they are not Zambians; to such persons I say “the kitchen has gotten too hot, get out”. Please leave His Excellency, The President, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, to focus on developmental issues for the common good of all the citizens of this great country. If you are not happy with his leadership, please jump on the next plane and leave us patriotic Zambians alone!!

Do you listen to your own wording coming out of you? You are saying “if they are not Zambians, then they leave” YOUR president says all ZAMBIANS against him should leave the country, what wrong with PF cadres with lack of greymatter kanshi?

Muzungu anikonde type in Zambia won’t work, at first u criticized the president with no brain thinking Scott will have his way but failed and just made his preferred candidate a deputy. Now u are on the back of HE like nsanya, bring solution not criticism only. Some of you people can’t accept defeat but just keep on yapping.

@Joe Bidden, you have missed the point! The President has not said “all Zambians against him must leave the country” He said that he “has ordered those who have not accepted his Presidency to leave the country”. For him to state a fact, “…me as President or me as Head of State”, does not amount to what you term “obsession with being hero worshipped” You, @Joe Bidden, and your cohorts, have found the trouncing defeat you suffered on 20 January, too bitter to swallow. I advise you to beware and not venture into insulting the President , or else the long arm of the law will pay you a visit. It is you who is brainless cikala cobe because you have even failed to read The President’s speach. Wabe tii !!!
