Chikwanda’s Daughter Denies Adultery Allegations
BWALYA Nyambe, the daughter of finance minister Alexander Chikwanda, has denied having a sexual relationship with Lusaka lawyer Mutakela Lisimba as alleged by her husband, Pfumai.
And Bwalya says the text messages her husband claims to be love exchanges between her and Lisimba are a fabrication.
In this matter, Bwalya recently asked the Lusaka High Court to divorce her from Pfumai on grounds that he denied her sex for nine months.
Bwalya had submitted that her marriage of eight years to Pfumai had broken down irretrievably and that there was no more love between them.
Pfumai, in his cross petition, agreed that his marriage to Bwalya had broken down irretrievably, but stated that this was because she had committed adultery with Lisimba.
He cited Lisimba as a party in the cross petition and submitted that both Lisimba and Bwalya confessed their affair on two different occasions in front of witnesses.
In her reply to Pfumai’s cross petition, Bwalya agreed that the marriage had broken down but not as alleged by her husband and further denied committing adultery with Lisimba or anyone else.
Bwalya stated that her husband was reckless, saying he squandered the money her father (Chikwanda) gave him to start a business since he was not working.
She stated that the marriage had broken down because of Pfumai’s financial irresponsibility as well as his violent behaviour, which compelled her to care for all financial responsibilities in the home over the past five and half years.
Bwalya also stated that she provided Pfumai with her personal vehicle so that he could have transport to complete his studies and for years, she sacrificed by using taxis.
She stated that Pfumai on many occasions packed up all his personal belongings and left the matrimonial home to go to his parents’ house, shying away from all responsibilities, especially when he noticed that her finances were diminishing.
Bwalya further stated that during the time her husband claimed to be studying at his parents’ home, he spent nights in a local bar in the same neighbourhood, much to her embarrassment.
She claimed that the marriage broke down five years ago when Pfumai lost his job and was arrested for stealing from his employer.
Bwalya also submitted that Pfumai lied that he was pursuing ACCA studies at ZCAS when he was pursuing law at Cavendish University.
And Bwalya indicated that the 19 text massages Pfumai submitted in court were a fabrication.
“Most of those messages contain very old sexual language used in text messages passing between the petitioner and the respondent as husband and wife before the marriage broke down,” she stated.
Bwalya also stated that at no time was a confession of adultery ever made by her and that Lisimba knew nothing about it.

I find it weird that chikwanda’s daughter can proudly state that her father gave the husband money to start a business. I do not know if this is a way to embarrass that man. However, the laught is on her aswell as she must be embarrased of herself at that age to still be fending of dad. Zambians take longer to be independent in life. This is a trend that has been promoted by successive governments and by the PF in the form of lack of employment. We in the UPND will ensure that employment is top of our agenda. Embarrasing for the minister to say the least. the econonmy is down, he has family problems. Surely a bad year for him. However it will be all over in 2016 and he can get a rest then

Dependency syndrome has little to do with governments and more to do with our own society that suffers from a crisis of modernity. If you give your car to child to drive because your neighbour does this to his children, how has government got anything to do with spoiling children and making them think what we have is also theirs?

If it were possible for the youth to get employment as soon as they attained legal age to work due to a favourable job market , I doubt many parents would see the need to actually go to the extent of buying or giving a car to their kids. The rational parent would am sure force that kid to work, save up and if help is needed then top up for them to buy a car. Howeever, even after independence it is unheard of for students to have part time jobs in this country. Do not run away from responsibility
