Man, 18, Defiles 12-Year-Old

POLICE in Kalomo have arrested an 18-year-old man of Mathews township for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl of Magrimond township in Kalomo.
Southern Province commissioner of police Mary Chikwanda said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened on Thursday afternoon in Magrimond.
“A woman reported on behalf of her 12-year-old daughter, who was defiled by an 18-year-old man of Mathews township.
“The incident happened in Magrimond around 14:00 hours,” Ms Chikwanda said.
“A medical report was issued so that the child can be treated while the suspect of an unknown address is in police custody.”
Ms Chikwanda is concerned with the alarming levels of defilement cases in the region and has appealed to traditional leaders and the elderly not to relent in counselling the youth against engaging in criminality.

I would like to urge authorities and NGOs to conduct awareness programs especially in the rural areas on defilement.

I am sure this boy is very shocked that he has to be arrested for what he did; in fact in most cases even the girls are not aware of the law regarding defilement.

When you have a government in power that has failed to fight poverty and suffering, it leads to increased levels of ignorance and retardation in people. Hunger is a disease. We then see an increase in cases of this nature in the country. If this man was employed, had a family and responsibilites he would not have the time to cook up thoughts of sleeping with a kid. Please let us vote in UPND to ensure youth employment and poverty eradiction in real terms not just on paper. Kuyabebele PF
