Lungu Showing His True Colours -Kamwendo

Governance expert Elliot Kamwendo says it is not shocking that President Edgar Lungu is politically bruising his perceived opponents because he promised to show people his true colors once elected. Kamwendo, in an interview, said Lungu risks becoming the shortest serving Republican President because of his failure to embrace dissent in a democratic dispensation.
He said President Lungu’s aggressive approach against his political opponents was frightening and made him very unpopular each day that passes. “To me, this is not really a surprise or shocking because he said it when he addressed a campaign rally at Wusakile Grounds in Kitwe that people will know his true colours when he goes to State House and those are the true colours.
Individuals that are perceived to be against him have been politically bruised, with the latest one being the expulsion of Chongwe member of parliament Sylvia Masebo from the PF. The conduct of President Lungu since he ascended to power leaves much to be desired,” Kamwendo said. “Zambians are now in a position to analyse the conduct and performance of any regime. Already, they have seen that President Lungu is busy fighting his critics rather than working to better their lives, to end poverty. What has he done on that score? There is nothing to talk about. His conduct so far is making him very unpopular by the day and the country goes to the polls in less than 18 months. President Lungu risks becoming the shortest serving Republican President in the history of this nation.” He said President Lungu had put himself on the path of destruction even within the PF due to his threatening approach against those that disagree with him on operational matters.
Kamwendo said President Lungu needed to build his own confidence in the people by being exemplary as a leader, knowing very well that he formed a minority government as many people declined to vote in the presidential election. “Presidency is not about creating enemies and fighting people and institutions that criticise you. It’s about service. Let President Lungu lead, let him concentrate on development, ending poverty and not fighting people, threatening to crush opponents. That’s a misplaced priority and Zambians are watching him,” said Kamwendo.
And Operation Young Vote Copperbelt coordinator, Rogers Nyirongo, said the PF would feel the negative impact of President Lungu’s misplaced decisions like the expulsion of Masebo. “He (President Lungu) has taken a quick shift from the values on which the PF was formed. Why expel her (Masebo) when she does not believe in him? It was not necessary for President Lungu to expel Masebo. It is just a waste of taxpayers’ money going into another parliamentary by-election,” Nyirongo said. He said Zambians were fatigued by the unending by-elections under the PF government.
“We have no problem with by-elections as a result of nullification because we respect the courts of law. But we have a problem with expelling a member on grounds that they do not believe in your values. This is so costly to the taxpayers,” said Nyirongo.

Zambians amaze me, the President shows leadership they feel he is wrong. Masebo whose heart is with HH is fired, they feel he is wrong. How do you expect him to govern if he will listen to every jackal that barks? You are only looking for faults

The man has said exactly what I have been saying the past few weeks. Infact people should not even bother themselves with this excuse of a leader called lungu. He is making UPND’s life even easier. When we told you about Lungu’s lack of leadership skills before the elections you thought we were being trivial and negative. Seriously, how do people vote in some one who blatantly says he has no idea what he is doing i.e no vision. It is like me coming to you and saying I do not know how to fix computers but I please pay me to fix your laptop. Saddening and I hope in 2016 we make the right choice by voting in UPND

But how do people like kamwendo expect the President to work with the person who doesn’t blive in him and supports the opposition.I feel masebo belongs to the opposition besides its not only long alone who expelled her bt the Central committee.so blame PF as a party not the President.masebo thot the opposition is winning and thot she can get a ministerial post alas yafauka!

Masebo deserves to be expelled from PF.Even in a club if a member does not respect the rules of the club he/she should be shown the door.
It like some of you people never went to school, you go against school rules you are punished or expelled.
Does kamwendo have a family?shame upon him

Some of you are quick at judging others. Suppose you take care of your sibling in your home, upon then you pick a fight with your neighbor and your sibling sides with your neighbor and help to beat you up. Would you continue staying with your sibling or you would chase him out of your house? common sense pipo

Who is your enemy, one leader asked? He was told that those in Opposition are my enemies. The other leader answered, NO, NO, you are making a mistake. The ones in the opposition are helping you to rule the country because they understand your focus, the more reason they accepted your victory, and will only start talking to you when they discover that you are diveting from your focus. The Leader said, the actuall enemy of yours is the one who you are in leadership with, for some would want you to fail, but they will pretend like they like you, by accepting whatever you propose though it is different from the original way you planned to rule the country. LUNGU should realise that his enemies are right in his party and not from the opposition. The opposition are just opposing what you never proposed to do during your promises. It is the more reason LUNGU should pay extra attention to the oppositions, because they are there to remaind him where he tends to forget his original focus. The article is very straight to the point and we should hail Mr. Kamwendo for all his observations, which stand true. You can Insult and repremand people like HH, but we think HH is true to his word. HH is a loyal citizen of this country and did sign the social MoU with the Civil Society as a guide to seeing every one should uphold their promises. HH is already a rich Man, and do not see how he can undermine his colleague’s leadership if it means well for the ordinaly Zambian. LUNGU should not bring on board people who are bent on denting his image. Afer all this is just LIFE and you are better off to live a good life, leave the country better than you found it.
