President Edgar Lungu has been advised not to allow opposition leaders divert his attention from delivering what is expected of him by the people.
The Zambian Voice Executive Director Chilufya Tayali says President Lungu should avoid falling into the trap of some daring opposition leaders by wasting his energies to evoke his powers.
Mr Tayali says there is no need for President Lungu to prove to anyone that he is Head of State because everyone in the country is aware of this fact.
Mr Tayali has told Qfm News in an interview that President Lungu should therefore realize that the provocations he is getting from some opposition leaders are only meant to make him feel he is nothing when in fact not.
He says if the President continues to engage opposition leaders who are provoking him he risks being misunderstood by the people.
Mr Tayali says the Head of State should instead preoccupy himself with delivering what he promised the Zambian people during campaigns.

@Vampiro: Kikiki: My friend how do you expect a question on a country’s economy to have a short sentence? Is this the reason why somebody would put all the money on building roads? Or is this the reason why you can support somebody to president with a single promise? Economy has many heads more than an octopus. It is normal to answer any question on an economy with a lot of statements so long they are cordinated and linked. Please remove cadre-mentality and see things clearly.

Lungu is naive, vision less and lacks urgency of priority. I am in bed watching early morning news. I will comment in full once I have had my usual breakfast and started working on today’s projects. Good morning zambia

Mr. NEZ, educate me, what is the reason the kwacha has continued to dwindle when copper price has risen by USD 400 since beginning of February?
New Educated Zambia
March 5, 2015 at 11:31 am
Look mate, I will go by your so called minister’s reasons for the depreciation as he is the financial manager of the country. And what he says has an impact on all key players. Your minister attributed this to there being a a huge demand for forex in the country which exceeds the supply. In turn he went on to state. He also noted lower copper prices as a reason for this. SO you statement on the increase in price of copper is invalidated here.
New Educated Zambia
March 5, 2015 at 11:32 am
Now let me go ahead and give you the UPND’s take on this. Firstly, forex is low due to not having a vibrant domestic manufacturing industry base that can compete with foreign ones. We in the UPND have gone on and on to say that there is need to put up incentives that will encourage and make it cheaper and easier for zambians to partake in the manufacturing industry. The PF has again proved that it failed to do this.
New Educated Zambia
March 5, 2015 at 11:34 am
Yes we can say copper prices are determined by the LSE and we have no hand in that. However, for how long have we in the UPND sang the song of diversification? It does not take a genius to realise that there is need not to rely on a exhaustable resource whose price we have no control over. In the UPND we will refocus our attention on agriculture and other industries that zambians themeselves can have an active role and influence. Another such industry is tourism.
New Educated Zambia
March 5, 2015 at 11:36 am
Now I have only gone on to discuss two reasons as stated by your minister. On top of these other issues, add on the political issue of an uncertain and clueless government and leaderhsip which is not prompt in dealing with problems in the mining sector. What do you surely expect? Vote UPND please!
Jeff
March 5, 2015 at 11:49 am
Thank you for the deep insight. Diversification is truly the answer.
Just in case you want more detail copper was going at USD 5,400 early February and is at USD 5,830 as at now. But the Kwacha is going in the wrong direction.
Under LPM the Kwacha moved from ZMK 4,700 to ZMK 2,800 and GDP moved from USD 3.5Bn to USD 11.5 bn

I would like to let you know that diarrhoea is infact a good way to detox at times. Now my only worry is with those zambians that the PF has failed by not being able to provide them with clean and regular water. The kids that will suffer from dysentry and non stop diarrhoea because the government cannot provide them with something as basic as clean water. Vote UPND to ensure our kids live a healthy and prosperous life through our sustainable development projects and aims

Tayali is right. Engaging provocative and bitter opponents will waste his energy and have the potential to make him loose forsight. It also makes HH appear a hero and centre of attraction when he is not. Let him be focused on how to improve the living standards and other progressive issues. let also pray for the president and let God be his guide so he does not fall in the trap being set up by all the jelousy people.

kikiki mune, Why does everything have to centre on personal attacks based on your delusional assumptions? Read the top comments I have given you hardcore data and reasoning on the current economic debacle. Do not worry about how NEZ makes his thousands of euros, pounds and million of kwacha. That is irrelevant to the poor zambians we are trying to asssit. Speaking of cleaning for white men, I would like to think your former president is turning in his grave watching his own supporters despising exactly what he did while in the UK.

concentrated in one province and yet almost at the same percentage with PF in terms of last elections? A true testimony that UPND has gained in those areas that were PF strong holds. A true reflection that indeed many zambians are way above the tribal politics that you PF cadres seem to support by using a scapegoat of UPND being tribal. DO you now see how foolish you sound?

We can understand a child who is afraid of the dark. The biggest tragedy is when an adult is afraid of the light! ! @New Edu Zm, you shall forever be in campaign mode inspite of the fact that there is a President in state house. You pick the exact blue print of the PF education strategy & claim it is UPND. Typical!! You are not as bad as hakainde who authored the constitutional roadmap after receiving it from OP. To correct you simple ‘upnd’ plan, consider this: What do you think (that is if you think) was the PF’s reason for embarking on a dual stream education system? What was PF’s reason for getting rid of subsidies on consumption? What was PF’s reason to encourage farmers to stop over-depending on maize only? Enough- or your brains may overheat.

Kakolwe, now categorically give me your achievements based on those policies or aims you have just listed? You think having ideas and plans on paper on your disorganised manifesto which was uprooted from the UPND’s is going to assure achievement of those aims? No my friend. You need to have the capacity to deliver on policy. When you have had farmers demonstrating because they cannot be paid, is that your achievment? When the unemployment rates are still high with many students lacking practical skills you think you have delivered? You say you were advicing farmers to do so and so, what has that achieved? you are not an advicer. In power you are the effector. One who makes those dreams and aims reality. Vote UPND to ensure effectors are in power
