Garry Nkombo Apologizes For Calling Kambwili ‘Chikala’ In Parliament
UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Mazabuka member of parliament Garry Nkombo has unreservedly apologised for his obscene remarks he made in Parliament last year in calling then Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili as ‘Chikala’.
Mr Nkombo told parliament that his behavior was embarrassing and unparliamentary and that as a chief whip for the UPND his behaviour was not good and befitting his status.
“I wish to apologise to you Mr Speaker, this August house and the nation at large for the words I uttered last year,” he said.
This morning Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Patrick Matibini castigated Mazabuka central member of parliament Garry Nkombo for using obscene language against Mpulungu member of parliament Freedom Sikazwe.
Dr Matibini said the word used by Nkombo against his counterpart was unparliamentary and that the parliament radio broadcasts to many people across the country as such no derogatory language will be entertained.
The Mazabuka lawmaker is believed to have used unparliamentary language when debating on the flour of the house during the last session of parliament.
He called Roan member of parliament Chishimba Kambwili ‘chikala’ an obscene word which when translated in English refers to the male genitalia.

Yes! That is maturity right there! ! That is why I advocate for Gary for the presidency of UPND. I ask Hon Gary Nkombo to teach hakainde how to be mature & honourable by apologising to UPND, Saki, Chisanga & the nation for introducing that “Only-A-Tonga-Can-Lead-UPND” rubbish. Its convention time! Or has it disappeared under hakainde?

I agree with you kakolwe.Garry has shown maturity and humility.These are rare qualities of good leadership.HH does not have them. Nkombo should therefore take over as UPND president.

We are ( ALL not just humans) but sinners! according to the bible. Hence the need to apologize to God and fellow men when we miss the mark. Yes, missing the mark! That what sinning is! Thats the way to go Mr Nkombo! All our leaders must emulate this very rare good example of humility.

I am not tonga but have been able to mingle with tongas and other tribes in zambia. I have to say they are very hardworking and welcoming people. Please tumfweko can you edit the title and censor the swear word. In colloquial Bemba, ‘chikala’ is not an insult as interpreted by Matibini who has no competence in the language. ‘Chikala’ could be used as a praise term or as an anotomical definition like, say, ‘foot’!
