GBM Says He Is Ready For The By-Election ‘I Dont Care Even If They Have Expelled Me’

GEOFFREY Mwamba says he does not care about being expelled from the Patriotic Front.

In an interview shortly before the PF disciplinary committee led by Tutwa Ngulube expelled him from the party, the Kasama Central member of parliament who supported the UPND in the January presidential election, said he was ready for anything.

Mwamba was on Wednesday summoned by the committee to appear before it to answer to various charges and threatened to proceed in his absence should he fail to appear.

But Mwamba said he did not receive any letter from the PF’s disciplinary committee demanding his appearance.

“I didn’t receive any letter from the central committee’s disciplinary committee. If I received it, I was going to appear before him (Ngulube),” he said. “In simple terms, I don’t care if they wish to expel me. I am ready for a by-election. If they expel me, who am I to say no? That is the decision they have made, and I will have no choice but to defend my seat. I am ready to defend my seat.”

gbmMwamba said as a senior member of the PF, he could not respond to a summons which was communicated through the media.

Asked which platform he would use to defend his seat, he said he would disclose that at an appropriate time.

“But let me tell you, politics is about people. It is about consultations. In fact, the people in the constituency are the major shareholders and even myself. So I will go with their decision,” said Mwamba. “You never know, who thought that today, PF would wine and dine with MMD, which we used to ‘throw stones’ at? Not too long ago, we were busy fighting them to get them out of power. So in politics, anything is possible. Anything can happen.”

And announcing Mwamba’s expulsion after a three-hour wait for him to appear before the disciplinary committee, Ngulube, who was the presiding officer at the PF convention which elected President Lungu as the party leader, said the Kasama member of parliament had squandered his opportunity to exculpate himself.

“We are satisfied that Mr Mwamba has no defence to the allegations levelled against him. Because there is no defence, we will not hear any evidence against Mr Mwamba. We have decided to close the matter,” he said. “In this regard we hereby declare that Mr Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba is no longer a member of the Patriotic Front. By virtue of that, Mr Mwamba will cease to be a member of the Patriotic Front, member of parliament for Kasama Central Constituency. If he is not happy with the decision, we advise him to appeal to the necessary bodies. But as at now, the matter is closed. Mr Mwamba has been expelled.”

Earlier, in a recorded phone conversion between Ngulube and Mwamba availed to the media by the former, Mwamba said he would not allow the party to treat him like a cadre.

Mwamba said he would sign the papers that were sent to his house around 12:00 hours yesterday which contained the said summons, but that he would appear before the committee at his own time.

Ngulube: Kanabesa, mwalaisa nangu twamwaise? (Sir, are you coming or not?)

Mwamba: Nala saina ifi nomba nshaiseko lelo. Nshilefwayo mulemwenesha kwati ndiwamilandu (I will sign these [summons] but I will not come today. I don’t want to be seen as a troublemaker).

Ngulube: Mwalaisa nangu tamwaise? (Are you coming or not?)

Mwamba: Nshilefwaya ifyakuti mwite ba press, mwambe ukucita dramatise ifintu. Boyi ifyo mwilalaba cakuti ati ine I am one of the key members of that party. I deserve respect. Nga mulefwaya muntafye, okay? You want to treat me nakalimo ni ne cadre. No. In fact, I won’t come (I don’t want you to call the press, and you begin to dramatise issues. My friend, don’t forget that I am one of the key members of that party….If you want, expel me, okay? You want to treat me as if I’m a cadre. No).

But after Mwamba cleared his call, Ngulube said he did not invite any media to dramatise the hearing and that the party would go ahead to announce its final decision in his absence.

We will wait and see! If GBM stands and loses that may just mark the end of his political career.

However, as a Zambian, GBM has the right to contest the seat as independent or under any party of his choice. No one should insult him for doing so.

GBM is the epitome of pomposity and pride. The Bible says pride goes befall the fall.
This could be the end of the political life of this proud and pompous man. Pride and pomposity are from lucifer – satan. God have mercy on ba GBM and Masebo!

I like him, too. It is not poverty which took him into politics but to serve the masses who are poor. We used to read how he used to support church groups in Kasama. Very few rich people do that, cos they keep what they have to themselves. Whatever decision he makes is from deep down his heart, indeed.

YOU NEED TO BE TESTED TO QUALIFY TO BE GBM’S QUALITY. GBM IS ANOTHER HH WHO IS DOING THINGS FOR THE SAKE OF ASSISTING COMMUNITIES, BECAUSE THE MAN IS ALREADY RICH. HE IS NOT OUT TO REQUEST FOR THE APPOINTING AUTHORITIES TO DO SOMETHING FOR HIM, HE IS THERE TO ASK COMMUNITY OPINION TO GIVE HIM THE MADATE TO BE PART OF THE LAW MAKERS OF THIS LAND. I NEVER EVEN FOR A MINUTE EXPECTED GBM TO KNEEL DOWN AND SAY FORGIVE ME FOR MY TRUSTWORTH. THIS SHOULD RING A BELL TO THE POWERS THAT BE. SOMEONE IS RULLING BY MISTAKE AND NOT BY DEFAULTY. IT IS TIME FOR ZAMBIA TO WAKE UP TO THE CALL OF THE DEPRIVED IN SOCIETY WHO ARE BUSY EXPLOITING THEIR FELLOW DESTITUTES IN THE SOCIETY. WHAT WE HAVE IN ZAMBIA NOW IS, THE POOR ARE EXPLOITING THE POOR. YOU MAKE A POOR PERSON LEAD YOU, END RESULT IS MORE POOR ARE CREATED, BECAUSE POVERTY IS SEEN AS A WAY OF LIFE.

foolish thinking is praising a person and singing he is a better man just because he is rich. Richness walks side by side with selfishness. How do you pocket $12million from the people of a poor country? How much of that $12million has been pumped back to the poor people he claims he loves? Braveness and dignity is in the heart and not the pocket. That is why God chose David for King.
If we can learn something from God is to learn why he chose a Carpenter to be Father of his Son, a Shepherd David to be King of his people, and a Fisherman, the foundation stone of his Church.

Typical of the PF party to not have a procedure and way of doing things. To them, they do not understand the importance of formal lines of communication. Their internal wrangles as a ruling party leave a very bad taste in the mouth. Why didnt they expel GBM a long time ago as the reasons they are giving have been going on way long before. In the UPND we use the proper channels and prompty expel those that are not following the values and norms of our party. Vote UPND to ensure a stable party

Vote upnd kwisa? A party that is an epitome of tribalism and headed by a tribal strong man, NEVER! GBM can now go back to run his business because he is politically finished unless he stands on upnd ticket in southern province, Bon voyage monsieur GBM!

By blatantly stating that GBM only stands a chance if he stands on UPND in the southern part of the country, you are simply alluding to the fact that the PF and your mindset is tribal. You go on to accuse the UPND of being tribal and yet if you have noticed you are the only one who has given tribal sentiments. Why should GBM only be able to win in the south in opposition? Do you now see how messed up your head is? They say idiots usually cannot tell that they are idiots themselves. Vote UPND to get rid of this usless PF party and instill some integrity based on one zambia one nation. we are one

He can win in the South because that is a place where the party he supported dominates and his current dominion does not believe in hh ideals and integrity. A man who keeps quiet over a wrong is not an honorable man. Ethnicity talk has come up as a result of hh, that is why he is a wrong man for the party. It did not come up as a result of upnd! Keep ignoring that at your own peril!

GBM if he decides to stand as an independent will win the seat easily but standing on UPND will mark the end of his political career . He can support UPND if he wishes so. At the moment Kasama Central is not any more PF strong hold. Lungu must pay much attention to Historical Bemba beliefs . Bembas do not believe in my master must love me they believe in what is good for humanity. Daniel Munkombwe if he did not alter such tribal sentiment and HH keeping quite not coming to distant himself from Daniel , Northern and Muchinga could have overwhelmingly vote for him

God exalt the humble to ashame the strong. GBM thinks that because of his wealth he can do anything which should not be the case. The issue of politics partly is to make a living but it is more of a service to others. The behaviour exhibited by GBM even when the late MCS was stil there shows that he is pompous coz of his money and does not want to take advise. LETHIM PROVE HIS POPULARITY IN A BY ELECTION
