UPND Expels Three MPs

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has expelled three of its Members of Parliament serving as deputy Ministers in the PF Government for campaigning against party President Hakainde Hichilema in the 20th January presidential election.

The three Members of Parliament are Greyford Monde for Itezhi-tezhi,Richwell Siamunene for Sinazongwe and Sinjembela’s Poniso Njeulu.

The UPND has since written to the Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini requesting him to declare three seats vacant following the expulsion from the party of the trio effective 21st May,2013.

In letters to the three Members of Parliament dated 5th March 2015 made available to QFM News, UPND Secretary General Winstone Chibwe says by campaigning for the Patriotic Front in the run-up to the presidential election, the three brought the name of the party and the party President into disrepute.

Mr Chibwe further states that Mr Monde and Mr Siamunene went on to use demeaning and insulting language against the UPND President, and the presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema.

He states that this is breach of Article 9 of the party constitution.

Mr Chibwe adds that the two went further to demean the UPND President and the party by publicly issuing statements that the UPND is a tribal party during their campaigns for the PF.

Look guys, the issue is simply how people go about carrying out expulsions. We are not saying that people should not be expelled. However, there is need to be transparent and formal in our approach. Mr chibwe has gone on to cite article 9 of the UPND constitution which these three chaps broke. As a party that respects the fair application of rules, these three had to be expelled. The reasons are given under article 9. COmpare this with the way PF have gone on to expel GBM. GBM has not even been given a formal letter with PF constitutional reasons as to why he is being fired. I doubt GBM used any demeaning and insulting language to your president. that is if this is part of your rules too. Vote UPND

The problem is that you rush to comment without first researching your data. PF first gave its rebellious MPs a chance to be heard & excalpate themselves which they refused. When suspension letters were served, instead of responding to the party, they rushed to court. Court saw ubupuba & they stand fired. Rules of the game! So we do not expect any goon to say PF is causing by – elections.

Kakolwe learn to read widely before making assumptions or using rumours you have heard from your local beer hall. Please can you point me to the official letter that was served on GBM and also the specific rule clauses that were broken by GBM. Do not just dream things up to suit your clueless and visionless party. GBM was not served with any formal letter. Clearly showing that they have no legal reasons to expel him hence avoiding the formal letter as then they would have to cite the rules he broke

Sadly, its you who does not read. Even when GBM says he received the said summons but was ready to go “at his own time”, you argue like a pregnant woman in her first trimester.
Grow up & parade not yourself as a defender of any upnd filth. There may be more to debate than your “we in the upnd” cliché. There is more vocabulary out there than “clueless” & “Illiterate”

I FORESEE MANY MORE BY-ELECTIONS UNDER LUNGU UNLESS HE DIRECTS A LOT OF STAYS TO THE JUDICIARY, OTHERWISE, GIVEN THE NEW CHIEF JUSTICE, IDO NOT SEE SUCH KIND OF STAYS. i AM JUST WONDERING WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE MMD AS A PARTY. WE NEED SOMEONE WHO IS SOME WHAT RICH TO LEAD MMD OTHERWISE IF THE POOR CONTNUE TO LEAD THIS PARTY, ALL WILL BE IN RUINY. THE PARTY IS OUT FOR SALE AS IT STANDS NOW.

UPND is very smart indeed. We will see how the courts will react.

We do not expect the courts to defend GBM & Masebo for PF and neither do we expect the courts to defend the three UPND MPs – Njeulu, Monde & Siamunene

I thus, declare that the following areas should have Parliamentary Bye Elections with immediate effect :-

    Chawama
    Chongwe
    Masaiti
    Senga Hill
    Itezhi Tezhi
    Sinazongwe
    Sinjembela
    Kasama Central
    Matero

These elections should cost ZMK60,000,000 each seat meaning an expected budget of about ZMK800,000,000 is expected from ECZ to meet other logistical challeges.

For now, hospitals will continue being without medicines and the reirees should tighten up their belts and as for farmers who are not yet paid, wait for the next farming season.

“One land one nation is our cry…..”

Even a Muliokela can win in Sinzongwe, Itezhi Tezhi and Sinjembela on UPND Ticket.

In your dreams that they will RETAIN their seats.

Meaning what? That people in UPND strongholds vote for a person regardless of quality? How can you say even Muliokela can win in Sinazongwe as long as he stands on UPND ticket. That is an insult to the supporters of UPND. So cut out the “VIVA UPND” nonsense!

@ Chanda Chilengu and Czar please do not prefix President Muliokela with the word ‘EVEN’ its demeaning for the gentleman is not a simpleton as many would like to make believe. Open your eyes and search yourselves while being analytical of what he stands for as there is a lot of sense in Mr Muliokela’s unique way of getting across.

Well, it’s Ok but it sounds more of desperation than hammering his antiGovt Points. Iam anti Edgar but once in a while I cross over shake hands with you guys then back to my forte.

Yesterday, Jack Mwiimbu told VP in parliament that PF was undemocratic to expel Masebo and GBM. Today UPND suspends 3 of their own for similar reasons. So UPND criticises the same things that PF does which they themselves have decided to do. If i was UPND supporter like most ZWD commentators, i would be singing the “ME TOO” tune but because am mature, i know UPND had to do what they did because the MPs where wrong just like MAsebo and GBM. Non need protection or defending, and despite me being PF supporter, i would love to see all these expelled MPs lose their seats in the by-elections.We should encourage integrity in ourselves than treachery just because it suits us
