Dr. B. Mwansa Kapika
President – Workers and Peasants Party
Zambia is clearly showings signs of degradation it its much envied pride of democracy. This process is like a malignant cancer which if not diagnosed and identified at this stage would become too late to cure. The recent events of violence and attempts to silence political opponents and justice cannot remain unaddressed. If nothing is done Zambia would become a copy of the year 70’s in Ghana or Nigeria when each leaders would rise to power and use the power to get rid of his opponents or his predecessors.
During the last elections, I was the first leader in opposition to extend my congratulations to Mr. Edgar Lungu for his victory. At the same time I expressed my hope for further democratic and fair participations for all political parties to the forthcoming general elections in 2016. However, this seem to be turning in utopic and hypothetic wishful thinking, due to the ongoing intimidations of those in opposition to mention but Mr. Haikainde Hichilema and the recent violent killings of those who happen to support the opposition.
I agree with the recent remarks from UNIP President Tilyenje Kaunda, which were clearly directed at the Republic President, Mr. Edgar Lungu to safeguard the human rights and security of all Zambians or Zambia’s residents in general. The remarks from Mr. Tilyenji Kaunda are reflective in terms of the language which President Lungu has been using in his speeches. One responsibility of good leadership is the use of reconciliatory language. It is not long time ago that countries like Kenya and Rwanda found themselves in the era of unpredictable violence,, mainly due to the rhetorical from political leaders. We have to realize that Africa is still inhabiting uneducated and unpredictable youths or citizens who are vulnerable to any rhetorical language. They would easily misinterpret every rhetorical language without analytical view of facts, to incite violence. To tackle the increasing violence with its inevitable result, the present lawmakers in the country can do more by for example enacting a law to ban the position and carrying of such weapons as Pangas. We must be able to realize that Pangas have caused more deaths in Africa than the Kalashnikov weapon (AK-47). At the age of 16 and while in Mufulira where I grew up, I still have vivid memories of badly wounded innocent Jehova witnesses and many more people. Kwacha compound where I used to live was turned into a buffer between the ANC/UPP stronghold in Kankoyo compound on one side and the ruling UNIP party from the other part of Mufulira. The use of carrying of Pangas to cause injuries on fellow human beings is a an act of terror and must be charged under terrorism act. It is not so long time ago that Nelson Mandel urged all south Africans to throw the Pangas in the river in order to preserve peace.

Shimapuli by you commenting it surely shows you are interested. Apart from the hangover talk, I also stated something in the first two sentences that had everything to do with this article. You chose to only concentrate on the irrelevant. Typical of a PF cadre

What could have happened-a marked improvement in the quality of delivery by you? Someone wrote an unadulterated version for, and on behalf of, the president, seemingly!

This man has stated many things that I talk about. I am particularly interested in the part where he mentions the fact that africa has many undeducated and illiterates youths. I am always talking about this and a good example are the PF cadres. We are taking advantage of the peace that we have in Zambia. The authorities are lax on tackling this issue. However, we should realise that major civil unrests always begin on a smaller local level. We in the UPND are very clear on our distaste for violence and any such person found wanting will be dealt with. We would like the UPND to pull their socks up and sort out the intra party issues they are facing rather than their president also coming out to issue threats. Vote UPND

kiki am humbled to be compared to mr HH. However, I can confidently state that I am not him. He is indeed a good role model to the party and the country at large However, I am here in my personal capacity as NEZ. I express my personal opinions based on the UPND manifesto and what we stand for as a party. Thank you

I am very gratefull as a Zambian raised up and still resident in Mufulira to notice the intelligent and maturd approaching to our country’s problems. I am one of the first Zambians who would mobililize and support this political party.

I have met him on different occasions. He is a very generous, intelligent, helpful and visionary pan-africanist, who I am sure would be able contribute positively to our fragile democracy.Last week I was able to buy at Bookworld bookshop in Cairo Road one of his latest books called POEMS FROM AN INNOCENT PRISONER. It depicts his intellect approach to day to day issues. I hereby quote one poems called : SPEAKING OF LEADERS
I have known leaders:
I have known african leaders,deep
proud in African values
With the flow of pan-africanism
in their blood veins.
My thoughts have grown deep like
their Fidel Castro revolutionary
ideas.
I admired Kwame Nkuruma when
African freedom started.
I built my hut near to Kenneth
Kaunda and his stand inspired me.
I understand Robert Mugabe
follow of the same path as the
whiteman’s in his land.
I looked upon the Robben Islands
and raised my fist to salute
Nelson Mandela.
I heard the singing of African
national songs
as Samora Machel lay dead,and
I have seen his crashed plane in
the sunset.
I have known leaders:
Deep cultured, revoutionary desire
to return stolen land to africans.
My thoughts have grown deep like
their Fidel Castro revolutionary
ideas.
