Lungu Free Man Of Kitwe
MWILA NTAMBI, Kitwe
KITWE City Council (KCC) has conferred President Lungu with the honour of the Freeman of the city of Kitwe in recognition of his distinguished contribution and personal sacrifice to the cause of national peace and stability.
Kitwe town Clerk Bornwell Luanga made the announcement yesterday during an ordinary council meeting.
The conferment is in line with the provisions of Section 74 (1) (a) of the Local Government Act Chapter 281 of the Laws of Zambia.
Mr Luanga said the honour is in recognition of President Lungu’s distinguished, noble, tireless contribution and personal sacrifice to the cause of peace and stability for the nation and humanity.
He said KCC decided to confer President Lungu with the honour of the freeman of the city because it holds him in the highest esteem and appreciates his ideals.
Mr Luanga said President Lungu has rendered eminent service to the nation and to the city of Kitwe by appointing Mrs Inonge Wina on merit as the first female Vice-President.
He added that President Lungu was born and educated in Kitwe and he once served as board secretary for Kitwe Playing Fields in which the council has an interest.
“It is against this background that I wish to recommend that His Excellency the President, Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the sixth Republican President be conferred with the honorary Freeman of the city of Kitwe as provided for in the Local Government Act Cap 281 of the Laws of Zambia and an investiture ceremony will be arranged for him through the Minister of Local Government and Housing,” Mr Luanga said.
Councillors unanimously endorsed the proposal.

I wouldnt be proud to be made free man of a city that is not gaining as much as it should from the resources it has. It is funny that this man says this award is for lungu’s personal sacrifice to peace and stability. Is this man an idiot? How can this be when lungu has been controlling the police and unleashing them on opposition leaders? When lungu has been threatening his own citizens with crashing and telling them to leave the country if they do not agree with him. When Lungu has failed to ensure economic stability. I can not congratulate him on a politcal appeasing award. Vote UPND to ensure such awards are given on merit

Ba Kitwe City Council you have a lot of better things to do. There’s a lot of garbage strewn around your city and a lot of other challenges like perennial water shortages in some townships

You see son of a gun, it is important for one to read up and follow current affairs before commenting on current affairs forums. If you had read widely you would realise that Lungu was just a few weeks ago threatening all those that did not agree with him. This was a warning to the general citizenry. I prescribe that you should read widely. Try and read more than tumfweko in terms of news. It will make you have informed decisions and opinions. As I said, we in the UPND will ensure that the reading culture is revived in the country. This culture of laziness needs to be refrained. Vote UPND. Good evening zambia

Where in my comment did i talk about him threatening his own party members. I am not concerned if he fire or hires his party cadres. That is his party business.However my comment alluded to him addressing all zambians and warning them that if they did not agree with his ideas he would crash them and that they should leave their country.
