HH Embarks On Door-to-Door Campaign
The UPND has embarked on a door-to-door campaign in Lusaka’s Chawama Constituency ahead of the April 14 Parliamentary by-election.
UPND President has led the campaign to drum up support for the party’s parliamentary candidate Charles Kaselwa.
During his pilgrimage in the constituency, Mr Hichilema urged the people of Chawama to vote for Mr Kaselwa because he is on the ground and understands the challenges people are facing in the area.
Meanwhile, Mr Kaselwa has asked the people of Chawama to vote for him so that they can work as a team and develop the area.

Its always good to do a post-mortem when you lose an election. UPND needs to know where they went wrong for them to lose the elections. Its not just a matter of going door to door. Its a matter of putting up a good strategy. Tribalism is what has killed HH. He needs to convince the electorate that he is not into tribalism.

To work on a problem, one ought to revist the genesis of that problem: the “The Only-a-Tonga-Can-Rule-UPND” rubbish that brought HH to the Public. He can even hold a convention and stand against stooges like Nalumango & Canicius Banda, That will clear his name. About door-to-door campaigns, I believe he can even go room-to-room, he will achieve the same result as long as his followers keep parading him as a super human and not “one-of-us”. SIMPLE!!

But, what is it that Hakainde is doing that is tribal excessive? Northerners have voted for themselves since independence – but that is not exreme tribalism?
What was really wrong with Nkumbula, Mazoka, and now Hakainde that is so tribal – somebody tell me?

@Shimaini: I think HH has dealt with the tribal tag. If you consider very carefully, you will notice Zambia’s language dialects are grouped into SEVEN (07) local languages.HH got a kaonde vote, a lunda vote, a luvale vote, a lozi vote and a tonga vote on average which is 5 out of 7 leaving EL with only a Nyanja and a bemba vote. The tribal elements are those who have never voted for anyone else apart from their cousins and themselves since independence. MAZOKA and Mwanawasa got low votes from Bembas that is why LPM only won with 28% in 2001 and lost even his VEEP’s constituency in 2006 if you can remember. LPM was only helped by the Nyanja vote.

U are very right @nono,thats what Tongas have been doing since the inception of democracy,always voting for a fellow tonga almost 100% even though they know that our man cannot win.Voting pattern was mose tribal and parthetic in southern prov than any other prov in Zambia.

It is not true! Tongas at least voted for a Bemba candidate in 1991 and 1996. But, Bembas have never voted for a Tonga Presidential candidate, since independence!
So, what is special about Bembas not voting for other people: save for their tribal cousins – the Nyanjas?

Not at all!! Mazoka won but was cheated out of his vote by Chiluba & VJ. In 1991 there was nothing of tribal votes. Neither was it there in 1996 or 2001. Ifima tribal stupidity started at the UPND convention were the Presidency became “ubupyani” along Tonga lines. I’ve pleaded with the whole lot of the UPND followers to say “work on that pronouncement” & stop pretending that it is non – existent. It does, coz the inability for HH to be subjected to a real conventon enshrines that idiotic ascent he had.

A president cannot go to a region like Solwezi and make tribal remarks like HH did and expect the majority to vote 4 him.How can he say that Sata was getting your money from here(solwezi) to go and develop Muchinga and Northern.These remarks cannot unite a nation and should not proceed from the mouth of a presidential hopeful.Let HH 1st grow up,then we can vote 4 him

That’s it, you cannot be a leader of for example of Councillors which you yourself have never been. Equally, you cannot be a leader of MPs which you yourself have never been. Be a Councillor first and rise through the ranks before talking of being a president of the this country! Door door campaign, Edgar Chagwa will surpass once he goes there in Chawama and indeed these other three constituencies.

In a country as poor as Zambia where all previous governments and current governments have failed to ensure effective unbiased communication infrastructure is in place, it only makes sense for one to embark on such a campaign in order to reach all those that do not have the opportunity of accessing unbiased national media. I mean what do you expect when you have an illiterate such as kambwili managing state communication machinery. They are bent on showing the UPND in poor light if at all they even give an coverage to UPND. We did this type of campaign at the just ended elections and look at how much progress we made.
