POLICE in Kasama have arrested a 17-year-old Grade 10 pupil of Mungwi Secondary School and a former convict over a spate of thefts in the district.
Northern Province deputy commissioner of police Alfred Nawa said in an interview yesterday that the two were arrested on Monday and named the former convict as Peter Mwiya, 20 of Musenga village.
Mr Nawa said police recovered a laptop and a gambling machine worth K7,000 from the two suspects.
“These are habitual criminals who have been terrorising people at night. We have recovered a gambling machine which they stole from a bar they recently broke into,” he said, adding that the suspects are in custody and will appear in court soon.
