Nawakwi:Kambwili Is Behaving Like A “Honey Badger”

Edith Nawakwi

Edith Nawakwi

Edith Nawakwi has attributed the depreciation of the kwacha to President Edgar Lungu’s illness and the uncertainty surrounding his health.
The Forum for Democracy and Development president said the declining economy was a sign that people had no confidence in the leadership of President Lungu. Reacting to chief government spokesperson and information minister Chishimba Kambwili’s attacks on her for advising President Lungu to rest and appoint competent people to stabilise the economy, Nawakwi said the health of the President was affecting everyone. “The health of the President is an issue and it cannot be hidden behind the curtain because it affects the kwacha and the confidence of other people,” she said.
“I don’t think that it is wrong for the President to be sick. What I think is wrong is to give the President diseases which he is not suffering from like malaria or achalasia, when in fact they know that he is suffering from low sugar.” Nawakwi said her advice to President Lungu was out of love. “These people who think they love my President more than me are even giving him strange diseases. These are real issues. You cannot rub them by dreaming that in this country, there is Beauty and the Beast,” she said. “When the President is not well and is rushed out of the country and the doctors outside the borders tell him that the only thing he needs to do is eat and rest because he has low blood sugar, I don’t think that is good performance.
The doctors here, if only they had a glucometer, they would have told our President that he was suffering from low blood sugar. So if that is good performance for Kambwili, I don’t think so.” Nawakwi advised President Lungu to seek guidance on issues he does not understand before making public statements. “The governor of the central bank was instructed to fix the kwacha.
This is clearly coming from a person who has no idea as to what constitutes the exchange rate. Just for a simple exercise; the exchange rate is a sum total of the confidence the people have in the leaders of any country plus the cost of the money they are using to trade with other countries,” she said. “No one in the world wants to hear from the highest level the issue of fixing. Mr President, sometimes try to get a written script from the people under your office.
You could do with a little bit of advice on the subject you are about to address before you face the camera.” Nawakwi said people had lost confidence in the economic management of the country. “If the reaction of the exchange rate is anything to go by, that’s how people feel about this country at this point in time. They have no confidence in the economic management of this country by those in leadership,” she said. And Nawakwi charged that Kambwili was behaving like a “honey badger” by trivialising issues which she raised in her advice to President Lungu. “Zambia is not a beehive.
Don’t behave like a honey badger. There are many in your camp, Mr Kambwili, who want to behave like honey badgers. Please, tell us the status of the road contracts which most of you are contractors. We have seen the emergence of a lot of honey badgers in your government. These honey badgers find themselves around the corridors of power, that’s why they are so vicious,” she said. Nawakwi advised Kambwili to counter-check her educational qualifications before discrediting her advice. “I could not have been your minister of finance for nothing. The record is just there under your nose. Go to Ministry of Finance or Public Service Commission. Don’t pretend to be blind or ignorant. I have never been a honey badger. How can he call my sister [Mutale] Nalumango ‘ugly’ for speaking out? Tell him that these are substantive national issues and not matters of Beauty and the Beast. The economy is on a free fall,” she said.
Nawakwi challenged Kambwili to answer the questions that she was raising. “When you see an article Mr spokesman, read, understand and think before reacting. Our advice was very specific and we wish they read before reacting. We said 1. Re-organise Ministry of Finance from top to bottom. 2. Give up Ministry of Defence to someone who can manage it.
It is not true that out of 14 million Zambians, there is not a single soul alive that can manage Ministry of Defence. That is why we have an army commander. There are people in government who can run it. 3. Split Ministry of Mines from Ministry of Energy so that each of those portfolios concentrate on their core business and this should be in that order because it appears as if these people don’t read, so I want to summarise,” said Nawakwi. “Number 4, we said rest.
And when we say that the President should rest and people are shouting at us and calling us Beauty and the Beast, we do not think that it is good performance.
They think they are performing but right now, the kwacha is almost K8 to a dollar. I don’t see that as performance. But unfortunately, Kambwili does.”

Lungu I think better start “fixing” the economy before people now go the streets or become aggressive. Edgar is taking us for granted. This economy and Kwacha issue is playing with our lives now advice is coming from everywhere. Actually Edgar should just step aside before we start wishing him bad things

Am amazed at how deluded the PF supporters typing here are!! Please bring out sensible comments in response to queries from concerned citizens and opposition parties. Your leaders are failing to give adequate response and policy direction on the issues being raised here and your tendency to attack, demean free thinkers is dispecable. Many of you are clearly, plain dumb and some of you have a hand in the ensuing economic decay, hence your desperation to silence the wise and free.

Edith is not bitter, she is speaking sense, the only people who are critisising her remarks are the people being fed by PF whilst the country is slowly grinding to a halt. think clearly, look around you and think of this country about 10 or 15 years ago, we never had a mess like now, Zambia looks like a shanty compound and other African countries are developing and we r going backwards.

You see, everyone is getting frustrated with this incompetent government. Nawakwi has just repeated exactly what I have been saying the past few weeks that have led to me being labelled with all sorts of insults. Nawakwi is suffering and hated for her intelligence. The president’s weak health has shadowed the economic crisis the country is facing. By leaving this crisis for so long we are losing millions a day as a country. Lungu and his minions do not care about you and I because their benefits can cushion them. So please ma OF cadres we know you are sleeping hungry, get over your pride of supporting some one you think you can related to. Vote UPND

The trouble is most of the bloggers are semi litterate and take anything constructive as an insult to the president. Please all educated people do not shun the 2016 vote, we need educated people to lead us whether they are Tongas, after all it is the Tongas that are feeding us in this country, they are the big farmers. By the way I am not Tonga but I think HH will make a good president, he is educated, civilised and has his own money.

Below the Equator,Zambia was a leading oasis of Human capital, we exported our bros and sis to neighboring countries to work. Congolese not to mention the agbada clad Nigerians above, aggressively took over the show with their captivating music, videos, the knack for business and other fields – but once again we’ve bounced back..I always thot Zambians as talented but reserved…Now what I fail to understand is this docile state of accepting to do nothing when all it requires is to admit recognition of failure. Yes, not all our judgement, perceptions, aspiration…sometimes influenced by vocal zealots, can be just/valid-that is,measured against different pipos view points. So as u blog be mindful that where your freedoms end others will just have begun! If u doubt Edith being a President then doubt Inonge!!!

Zambia and Africa in particular had very little effect of the global recession as compared to America and Britain. Millions of people lost their jobs, companies and banks went under and look at them now, theirs currency is getting stronger, economy growing again and look at us, Zambians, everything is going backwards.
What does this tell us, we will always be a dark continent full of poor leadership and corrupt politicians and blind followers who can not see anything wrong.Unless the people of Zambia and Africa wake up and demand the best out of those in power or we will just continue living like animals without proper hospitals, schools, water, medicines etc. In countries like america leaders are made to account for every action.

    Chishimba Kambwili should be castrated.

He is fond of sleeping with Grade 12 young girls.

He is the Chief Child Abuser.

Chishimba Kambwili holds two posts; chief Government spokesman and Chief Child Abuser.

Since Lungu appointed Information Minister, the frog has slept with over 100 school going children. even his wife is very much aware of this.

Its high time Edgar Lungu drops Chishimba Kambwili.

He is a big disgrace to Zambian Politics.

Scum is you #new educated illiterate zambian. your brain is incapable of constructive criticism. You are at most as useless as HH. Indeed birds of the same feather flock together. 4 times that idiot has been rejected because he is an unsaleable product. Beaten and humiliated by a political novice. He is the most corrupt person in Zambia because as it is, you retards are being paid to change your party manifesto so he can stand again in 2016. That says a lot about him. An undemocratic loser and bully supported by one backward tribe. Useless tribe at that. Busy sleeping with ypur daughters when they come of age and claiming it’s a tradition yuck
