President Lungu Had No Dream Of Being Head Of State -Fr Luonde
Fr Richard Luonde says greedy hypocritical forces pushed President Edgar Lungu to stand for election despite knowing his ill health so that they could control and plunder the nation’s resources.
Fr Luonde was commenting on President Lungu’s Sunday Interview televised on ZNBC on September 7, 2014 in which he, then as justice and defence minister, openly declared that he was diabetic and his health condition could not allow him to be Republican President because the job was too demanding. “He himself openly said it; his party would have said, ‘He said he has ill health, so let us avoid him.’
But because of greed and hypocrisy, people went ahead and forced him, pushed him into being President,” Fr Luonde said. He charged that President Lungu had no vision for this country because he had no dream of being Head of State. “I mean, he even said he had no vision during campaigns, and this could have been because he never aspired to be President.
He never planned to be President and now we have been reminded that earlier, he had stated that he did not want to be President because he was not well,” Fr Luonde said. He said President Lungu’s words had come back to haunt him because he went ahead and decided to be Head of State even when he knew he had a health problem. “His [President Lungu] words have come back to him.
He said it was a tedious job and he was not ready for it because of his health and not years went by, within a few months, he changed and said that he was healthy.
He was open and frank about his health, but what happened to the concerns he raised regarding his diabetic condition?” wondered Fr Luonde . “…Their interest was to form government by all means, so that they can take advantage of Zambia’s resources and now they are doing it at the expense of their friend’s life. It is very unfair and sad.

Is there no other way we can positively help build our country than focus on the President’s health debate? To be honest time is running out let us just find better ways to support him rather than reading about the same negative stories in the Post. It is sickening to say the least.

He said he didnt want to be president and then rules without vision. it means lungu was either forced by the powers that be and is sure he cannot manage the task. It is no shock that lungu fainted recently. he also stated before departing for namibia that the task of presidency is very difficult. These are cries by a man who is under alot of pressure and stress. please in 2016 zambians do not make the same silly mistakes of voting based on emotions. COme in numbers and vote the UPND

Iwe ka edu,Edgar did not say he had no vision,I mean for u to join politics it means u must have some kind of vision, Edgar had refused to share what he plans for Zambia because he said it wasn’t time,the country was going to go to elections in 2 years time and whatever major plans they had they wouldn’t be able to bring them to light in that short period,instead he said,they would finish what Ba sata started, u know hospitals,schools etc and then wen elections are back only then will u hear his manifesto And I bet Zambians will like it

Edgar’s health is now officially a national concern. PF should start looking for their 2016 candidate, they no longer pretend they know there is a looming disaster and their Lungu was good as a presidential candidate but not as a president. Sampa would ve been a good rookie president, appealing internationally and healthy.

But some people are a lost cause – so this Father Luonde has made ECL’s health his P1. He has stopped doing anything else that would be of value to the nation (if there is anything of value to the nation – like preaching, farming)to concentrate on ECL’s health!!!

Very right @jobreaker. Can we really say anything against God’s choice? Blind are those that could not see God’s hand in the elections period and ECL’s ascendance to power and eventual humiliation for some of the dishonest aspirants. It’s like having eyes but failing to see. Maybe it will be more clear for them in 2016!!!

JJB, please note that God rewards hard workers who believe and trust in Him. He does not promote laziness. ECL fought for presidency when he realised Zambians wanted him to continue. He went round to solicit for your vote. He trusted God in spite of the little time he had. And God gave him the presidency.

I wish father Luonde knew fully well that someone’s circumstance can change in a split of a second. Someone’s view about something can change any time. So did ECL’s. That was his right to change and go for presidency. We thank God for that because He gave us the opportunity to choose the best president in ECL. Be humble and God will lift you up regardless of your circumstances.
