Judge Chikopa Tribunal Dissolved Judge Kajimanga, Judge Mutuna Reinstated

The Tribunal headed by Malawian Judge Lovemore Chikopa set up to investigate Judges, Nigel Mutuna, and Charles Kajimanga has been dissolved.

The Tribunal was set up in April 2012 by President Michael Sata following the complaint by Post Newspaper proprietor Fred Mmembe and Mutembo Nchito when they alleged that Judges Nigel Mutuna, Judge Charles Kajimanga and Supreme Court Justice, Philip Musonda, misconducted themselves over the handling of the Zambian Airways court case (where they are shareholders).

The Tribunal was dissolved by President Edgar Lungu following a Consent Judgement entered into by the Attorney General and the Judges.

President Edgar Lungu has since revoked the suspensions and reinstated the Judges and has allowed them to work as puisine judges of the High Court.

The Tribunal failed to sit when it was frustrated by numerous court applications and injunctions.

And Chief Justice Ireen Mambilima has appointed Judge Charles Kajimanga as Judge-in-Charge.

This matter has infuriated Fred Mmembe who has written a new letter of complaint letter to Chief Justice Ireen Mambilima claiming that it would be difficult for him and his colleagues to obtain Justice from the Judiciary “since the judges were intent or appointed to fix them”.

President Edgar Lungu’s recent actions have been hailed and interpreted by many observers who feel that President Lungu is on a path to dismantle the hold and control of public institutions by the group famously known as the “Cartel” who were accused of holding individuals and public institutions captive to their whims.

A tad bit late ba PF. This situation goes to show just how much LUngu lacks any backbone and integrity. Lungu was justice minister and then did not see the need to speak up and tell the president that such a tribunal was a waste of time. Meanwhile chikopo who is another chikopo has been busy swimming in tax payer’s money while not even being zambian. Can we please be given a break down of how many millions we have wasted on this fool and how much money this useless PF government has misused? Lungu is also doing the same thing an instituting his own tribunals that will not bring about anything tangible and wont put food on your tables. Vote UPND to get rid of these useless scums

Am sorry Shimapuli…Actually Sata’s decisions were not his but that of the cartel. EL is making his own decisions. HH has never and will never make any decision on behalf of the people of Zambia

My wonder at this is: Where these tribunals set up for Mr Sata’s personal battles with justice or what? Well, that one of the judges under scrutiny quit before the beans could be spilled was enough to show that there was some rubbish which Sata wanted swept but these law guys stood for their own. Probably, Lungu being of the same fraternity knows how much time this will waste & opts to cut the waste. Judge Joe Bidden, what’s your take?

THE DECISION BY LUNGU TO DISSOLVE THE CHIKOPA TRIBUNAL IS THE MOCKERY TO SATA THE MAN WHO FOUGHT VERY HARD TO PF TO FORM GOVT AND BEGAN THE PROCESS OF CLEANING THIS COUNTRY ESPECIALLY IN THE JUDICIARY WHERE IS TOO MUCH CORRUPTION. BUT WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM A CORRUPT LAWYER LIKE LUNGU WHO KNOWS FOR SURE THAT AFTER LEAVING THE PRESIDENT OFFICE HE WILL BE ANSWERABLE. ZAMBIAN NEED TO RISE UP AND DEFEND WHAT SATA BEGAN TO CLEAN THE JUDICIARY.

Awe boy. Though baSata fought as a lion for PF & Zambia, the liason he had with Mmembe was very shadowy. It was making Fred enshrine himself as a Kingmaker. I’d appreciate if EL cut him to size. And it looks like he is succeeding.

He wants to kill the cartel group before it advances on him like they did with late Sata,MHSREP.This cartel Gentlemen is so huge, so viscious and deadly than one might think,if left unchecked,we will be changing PRESIDENTS like shirts, gentlemen the road is rough and Bruising,it will take Brave men to win the Battle,we are surrounded by mafias in this country, even some political leaders we know are accomplices these mafia groups, and by aspiring to high they want to protect their interests(wealth).
