REHABILITATION of the Presidential Lodge in Kitwe at a cost of K6 million has been completed and Hua Chang Infrastructure, the contractor working on the facility will hand over the building to Government on Monday.
Hua Chang Infrastructure assistant project manager Luke He Qiunan said on Thursday that all major works have been completed according to specifications in the contract.
Mr Luke said this when permanent secretary for special duties at Cabinet office Bert Mushala visited the lodge for an on-the-spot-check of the works.
“We have done the fence, security lights and improved on the security system. This is in accordance with specifications in our contract,’’ Mr Luke said.
And Mr Mushala said he was impressed with the works done at the lodge.
Government engaged the Chinese contractor to renovate the lodge following former President Michael Sata’s directive revoke the contract of the earlier contractor’s delay in completing the works.
Earlier, Mr Mushala visited the newly constructed 30,000 cubic meter capacity water treatment plant at Nkana Water and Sewerage Company (NWSC) in Kitwe.
NWSC director for infrastructure development Kenneth Chense said $10 million has so far been spent on the construction of the plant.
Mr Chense said the construction of the 30, 000 cubic-meter is in addition to the already existing 62,000 cubic meters capacity water treatment plant.
NWSC managing director Diana Makwana said the utility company requires us$200 million and has only received US$63 million as investment for the plant.
Other projects Mr Mushala visited in Kitwe were the Ndeke Village police post constructed at a cost of K399, 000 under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), a block of four classrooms and an ablution block at Temweni Primary School constructed at a cost of K580, 000.
Mr Mushala also visited a block of three classes at Nsansa Primary School built at a cost of K6, 000.
The projects were funded by the Copperbelt Development Foundation.
Mr Mushala also toured Ndeke Village Hospital whose mortuary and maternity ward are being constructed at a cost of over K7, 000.
And Copperbelt deputy permanent secretary Elias Kamanga said the completion of the construction works at the hospital will lessen congestion at the Kitwe Central Hospital.

Read this again! RENOVATIONS to a Presidential Lodge cost K6 million, BUT construction of schools, hosptal mortuary, and the rest cost less than K1 million. Imagine how many schhols and clinics they can construct if they had spent K1 million on rehabilitation and K6 million on schools and clinics. How often is the lodge used?

@ Chinkole, Stae House was also recently renovated, second time in three years, at a colossal cost. Then they want a physician general office just for the president. Politicians are Gods in Africa. It’s now wonder Africa does not develop; no priorities apart from looking after themselves

This PF quarks are now obsessed with making presidents as comfortable as they can. Presidents should ve a culture of creating their wealth (before) or building their own and stop misappropriation of our resources.

I hope you bunch of distracted and disadvantaged monsters are aware of how many schools, clinics turned into hospitals, police posts,Universities, roads, our chiefs palaces, roads,Bridges name it,being constructed, With the growing population this country is going thru a lot of xpansion programs, its not PF initiative to construct the structure in question! If it bugs u you blame it on the initiators,PF simply carried out Rehabilitation to the failing structure, mind you to presidential standards. Globally presidential positions are very delicate, starting from movements stay, life styles are not like an ordinary Businessman, who builds a Hospital in new kasama as a residence,I wish your hero could have a feel of Power, but he is not a material!Kikikikikiki! Any way who cares about him!(PTO)
