POLICE officers in Ndola’s Chifubu township have refused to move into a newly constructed police post due to lack of furniture and have opted to operate from a container.
The police post which has been constructed using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has remained unused despite having been completed on time.
This came to light when permanent secretary for special duties at Cabinet Office Bert Mushala visited the police post.
Mr Mushala said the situation is regrettable and saddening and he has requested Ndola district commissioner Rebby Chanda to work with relevant authorities to ensure the police post is furnished.
“It is so disappointing to note that police officers have refused to operationalise this place just because it has no furniture,’’ he said.
Mr Mushala has warned Chifubu police officer-in-charge Kennedy Ngulube of stern action if the police post remained closed because of lack of furniture.
“Some of your friends have no furniture and a structure like this but they do work. You need to operationalise this place now,’’ he said
Earlier Mr Ngulube said the police post was abandoned because it was very small and had no furniture.
Mr Mushala also visited the Twapia Bridge, Twapia local court building, Tropical Disease Research Centre (TDRC) plot in Mitengo and Ndola Central Hospital psychiatric clinic.
He also toured Munkulungwe dip tank which is expected to cater for over 5,000 cattle in the Fatima catchment area once completed.
Mr Mushala also wondered why the national registration office in Ndola has continued operating behind the district commissioner’s office when the building has been completed at a cost of K450, 00.
But assistant registration officer Maiwase Phiri said his office has not moved into the new building because the contractor has not handed over the project.

Basically, for me its A PLUS,why?(1)new infrastructure is ready for use, move in a right direction,(2)the ministers are doing their home work,by ensuring that all structures are being put to good Use,its just a matter of purchase the furniture,no big deal about The whole thing,no body can blow this out of proportion, unless those without a clue on how the government works, its in fases,Police officer in charge should have informed the authorities that be, about furniture, these ministers are too busy right now and that’s not the only structure being looked @, whatever xcuse is lame, that is incompetent on the officer in charges part.

Mushala is mad. How can he reprimand the police officer in charge? Is the officer in charge supposed to but the furniture? How can officers work without furniture. Bakulalembela ama docket panuma yama suspects? Just buy the furniture and let the officers work. Ulefwaya officer in charge ashite furniture muli salary yakwe? Ulishilu chi mushala? Like father like son!
