Voting Underway In By-Elections

Polls have opened in three parliamentary by-elections in Chawama, Masaiti and Senga Hill constituencies.

Local government by-elections are also being held in a number of places in the country.

The Masaiti and Senga Hill by-elections came about following the nullification of the elections by the Supreme Court.

In Masaiti the ruling Patriotic Front is fielding Michael Katambo whose election was nullified by the court, while Peter Mumba is the UPND candidate.

In Senga Hill the ruling party is fielding Kapembwa Simbao whose election was also nullified by the courts while Giles Yambayamba is the UPND candidate in a two horse race.

In Chawama which was previously held by President Edgar Lungu before he was elected president, four political parties are contesting the seat.

These are the ruling Patriotic Front, UNIP, UPND and National Revolution party.

The PF is fielding Lawrence Sichalwe,UPND is fielding Charles Kaselwa, UNIP has Biwel Kaluba, the National Revolution party is fielding Martha Mumba with the Fourth Revolution party fielding Benson Silwimba.

The PF have been panicking alot. It wouldnt surprise me to see them use dirty tricks in order to win at all costs. However, with information am getting from the ground our people are keeping a look on what is going on and ensuring everything is in place. Please we humbly ask you to vote the UPND in these by elections. Our candidates are only there to by your servants. Please look at chawama and all pf constituencies and see if that is what you call development. I trust peopel will do the right thing. We thank you

its good that edus people are on the ground, though u have a habit of callin foul even when. your people are looking at results, this happened just late last year during by elections, akainde upon realising that he is about to lose, because the remained constituencies are Pf strong holds,he rushes to t muvi TV and says Pf are stealing votes, mmm I thought your people were on the ground already and keeping an eye on each and every ballot box,I’m afraid they will still call foul when they lose today

That big fat rat emmanuel mwamba has already started complaining about lower voter turn out. They will use that as an excuse when UPND improves on its last results. For us it is not always about winning. After all most of these are pf strongholds. However, what you should look at are the votes for upnd in the last general elections and the share after this election. That will give you a true reflection of where we are as a party. Vote UPND bane. 2016 iyo
