Mpika Women Love Beer More Than Spouses – DC

Mpika district commissioner Catherine Chileshe says she will start chasing women from bars because she wants them to be with their families.

Addressing mourners during burial of a minibus driver, Happy Bowa, at Yowani cemetery in Mpika on Monday, Chileshe said women needed to respect marriage because it was sacred.

She said she was disappointed to learn that most women in the area love beer more than their spouses as evidenced by the long hours they spend drinking.

Chileshe wondered whether the women were not satisfied with what they had in their respective homes.

She observed with regret that there were more women in the district that had abandoned their families than their menfolk because of beer drinking.

“Bushe ba namayo tamwasekelamo mufintu mwakwata mu mayanda yenu pakuti mulesangwafye mufikulwa fya bwalwa? Kanshi cinshi mufwaya muma bar (Women, are you not happy with what you have in your homes for you to always be found in beer drinking places? What do look for in bars)?” Chileshe asked.

The District Commissioner, who called on women to exercise restraint against excessive beer drinking, said she would personally be visiting bars and taverns to drive away women because those were not right places for them.

Chileshe said she had resolved to personally involve herself in chasing away women from drinking places because assigning other officers could not work as some of them allegedly compromise with the culprits.

She warned that as long as she remained district commissioner for Mpika, she would ensure that women were discouraged from going to bars.

Chileshe said women should instead embark on productive activities that would improve their standards of living in the district.

She also directed police to look at the possibility of stopping trucks from passing through Mpika at night.

Chileshe said police officers should ensure that all trucks are parked after 18:00 hours to prevent unnecessary deaths through accidents.

NEZ, its time to chase the HH from UPND top leadership. He has led us to 4 consecutive losses
He has misplaced priorities, instead of asking why UPND has lost in all the 3bye elections he’s busy blaming voter apathy. Yes there was voter apathy but why didn’t the same people that voted vote for the UPND candidate? That’s the question you should be asking yourselves. In my view NEZ, UPND has to overhaul and that overhaul should begin from the Top otherwise same results are eminent in whatever election that may come. One problem that I’ve observed is you support an individual instead of a party. Sit down with your fellows and learn to tell the people the truth that they have been rejected 5 times and its time to change the head

Madam DC, you cannot teach old dog new tricks, if you make a mistake of chasing them from taverns/ bars, get ready to be assaulted by them. If their husbands have failed to control them what can you do?

Madam DC,the way u are speaking is like a “nabbing” trying to bring back a lost woman to her marriage..the right of admission in a bar is 18 years and above..if as a lady I am found to be drinking in a bar and am above 18years,why should I be chased away? Not all women found at a bar want sex or are whores,no..For your information, its very easy for you to find a shore at a night club than a bar..just check the dressing and u will find out.. Encourage the women that take to beer drinking as a way of easing their marital problem to desist from that and seek their marriage councillors at church and “bana fistula”.. Otherwise, you will be wasting your time to chase women from bars..
The stopping of trucks moving at night is a good move..inc operate the police to ensure this happens effectively..
