Up to 5,000 people are marching in South Africa’s coastal city of Durban in a major rally against xenophobia following attacks on foreigners.
President Jacob Zuma has condemned the attacks, in which at least five people have died in recent weeks, as “shocking and unacceptable”.
The Zulu king has been accused of fuelling the violence. He denies this.
Many jobless South Africans accuse foreigners of taking jobs in a country where the unemployment rate is 24%.
“No amount of frustration or anger can justify the attacks on foreign nationals and the looting of their shops,” President Zuma told parliament on Thursday. He also urged for calm to be restored to the areas most impacted by violence.
Am impressed with Malema for conderming xenophobic attacks but disappointed with Zuma for not castigating king Zwelethini and his son for fueling them
Tell all South Africans to go back to school so that they can get those jobs back and stop killing innocent lives.
Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini is the one who called for the deportation of foreign nationals living in the country, saying it was unacceptable locals were being made to compete with people from other countries for the few economic opportunities available.

Can they put in place a state of emergency. That is what normal people do. Lack of capacity to govern people and create favoruble economic environments is what leads to such cases. Plus also poor governence by other poor countries like by the PF in zambia means that people take their problems to other areas which are not doing any much better in terms of employment. So the remedy for all ths is for people in africa to avoid voting in clueless governments like the PF and shouting ifinitu ni lungu and yet they are suffering and forced to run for greener pastures and eventually killed. What a life

instead of campaigning in chawama, masaiti and senga hill, some went to UK and talk ill about zambians, today he is blaming them for not voting for him
