Payroll Officer In Dock Over K800,000
A PAYROLL officer at MTN Zambia has pleaded not guilty to stealing over K800,000 from the mobile service provider and using part of the money to buy seven Toyota Corollas.
Fernando Malambo, 30, an accountant, of house number 15 Massa Street Libala Stage 4B in Lusaka, appeared before principal resident magistrate Kenneth Mulife on Monday for stealing K893,709.75.
Malambo is charged with seven counts of money laundering, unauthorised interference with data, fraudulent false accounting and theft by servant contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
In the first count, it is alleged that Malambo intentionally and without authority to do so, interfered with the MTN payroll data for months of January 2013 and May last year.
In count two, Malambo with intent to defraud, made false entries in the MTN payroll system from January 2013 to May last year.
Particulars of the third count are that Malambo allegedly stole K893,709.75, the property of MTN Zambia which came into his possession by virtue of employment.
Particulars of counts four to 10 are that Malambo jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown, engaged directly or indirectly in a transaction that involved K893,709.75 money being proceeds of crime, whereby part of it was concealed or disguised by purchasing motor vehicles namely, Toyota Corollas.
The offences were allegedly committed on dates unknown but between November 1, 2013 and June 30 last year in Lusaka.
Trial was scheduled to commence on Wednesday.

We in the UPND do not tolerate theft and any act of dishonesty. However, we do understand that our people are facing very difficult times in the PF regime. Cost of living has gone up. Our currency is practically useless. People are suffering and when people are desperate they go through desperate measures to make ends meet. We are pleading with you people to do the right thing and save yourselves in 2016. We all make mistakes and w e understand that half the country made a very grave mistake earlier this year. It is such tribal sentiments that wont take us anywhere my pf brothers. Why are you so tribal over simple issues? Whether tonga, lozi, bemba, luvale etc poverty affects all. Your failures as PF are not shielded due to one’s tribe. Grow out of it and get to work. 2016 is not far and the people are watching.

Very saddening state of affairs here. Chileshe I knew you were an idiot at times but i didnt expect this from you. Look guys, we can disagree on principal of party policies, that is normal. However, I expect us to work together to avoid and prevent tribalism. In all our discussions we tend to rise above tribe and this is how things should be. Please am begging you, zambia is bigger than any tribe and the peace we enjoy is second to non. Let us not take advantage of things just to score a point here and there. Tribalism is a very dangerous sentiment. I am really disappointed to see this coming from a supporter of the so called ruling party. People can now see what I always talk about. 2016 let us do the right thing

Grow out of it and realise that you cannot paint an entire tribe with your one off experience if at all true. It seems you pf idiots have run out of excuses for your poor performance.
