Lusaka Man Arrested For Burning His Wife

Police in Lusaka have arrested a 42-year-old man of Mtendere township for allegedly burning his wife who later died of her wounds.
The man is said to have poured kerosene on his 30-year-old wife and set her ablaze on suspicion that she was having an illicit affair with another man.
Pascalina Hangoma died of the burns inflicted on her by Daniel Ngulube, who later drank a poisonous substance on an apparent attempt to commit suicide.  The bid failed.
Lusaka Province commissioner of police Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened in Kanyama on Saturday around 21:00 hours.
On the fateful night, Ngulube allegedly left his house – after buying kerosene – and went to Kanyama township, where Ms Hangoma lived.
She said Ngulube allegedly poured the kerosene on Ms Hangoma and set her ablaze.
“He suspected her of having an affair with a man only identified as Rodrick, a shop owner,” Ms Katanga said.
She said Ngulube later went to buy a poisonous substance and drank it.
Passers-by took the couple  to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for treatment but Ms Hangoma succumbed to the burns yesterday around 11:00 hours.
“Ngulube was treated and discharged from the hospital and is currently in police custody,” Ms Katanga said.

We in the UPND pass our condolences to the family of this woman. We hope the law will deal with the perpetrator. What a very shameful act by a man. This goes to show just how much faith and confidence people have lost in our judiciary. It is a common occurence for people to take justice in their own hands especially in the poor more densely populated areas of cities. People know that going the route of the law will not yield anything but just enrich the legal fraternity. Since the PF government took over we have seen an increase in such horrible deaths. People have lost hope in the system. Please let us vote in the UPND so that we can have an effective consitutionp put in place that will in turn lead to confidence in the judiciary

Whichever government is in power society will still have sociopaths like this Ngulube of a lunatic. This is a man full of insecurities who wants to possess his wife, defines himself by the apron of his wife and if the wife finds his manners intolerable by shifting out of his house then he acts in a brutal and fatal manner. What a shame to his family, his community and the entire Zambian male population! May the soul of the departed rest in peace.

kiki ah banda you are now trying to find excuses to use when you lose elections next year. Bane, it will be simply because you have failed the people. Do not follow lungu’s fascination with sangomas and silly superstitious reasoning. If you do not perform people kick you out. Look at state of the economy and tell me you are happy and proud of shambles
