Esther Phiri Says She’s Looking Forward To Be Crowned As Champion

SPORT BOXINGEsther Phiri says she is looking forward to being crowned champion once again. In an interview yesterday, Esther said: “I am still a killer bee, I want to grab the two belts and be the champion again.
She [South African Sandra Almeida] is not a boxer I can fear.” Esther, who boasts of six international belts, would on May 22 face Sandra in her first attempt at a title fight since her return to the ring. On her return, she overcame Kenya’s Evelyn Odoro on December 20 last year in a non-title fight via a split-point decision.
Meanwhile, preparations for the unification title fight have received a boost by hotel intercontinental’s donation of VIP rooms for WIBA and WBF officials worth K50,000.
According to Exodus Boxing Stables director and coach Anthony Mwamba, the contribution by the hotel had reduced the budget to K190,000.
He said two of the three rooms that have been provided by the hotel management would be for WIBA and WBF presidents Ryan Wissow and Howard Goldberg. He said the two legendary boxing officials would be in the country four days before the fight billed for Government Complex.
“The Esther Phiri versus Sandra fight has been boosted by the donation from Hotel Intercontinental. I want to also state that we have engaged the services of a dietitian for the boxers in camp,” said Mwamba.

She is a good boxer problem as most Zambian sports people its all about money, when they feel they ve made a little mismanagement comes in and half-baked retirements. Once they hit rock bottom in poverty ati I want to go back to sports same applies with our footballers, they all need courses in money spending and personal management.

Am glad that tumfweko has toned down on the nigerian celeb RB reporting. PLease let us leave nigerian news for the corrupt RB. As for esther I admire your confidence and courage as a fighter. I just hope you have finished mourning nsanda and that you are mentally fit. We in the UPND take pride in seeing our own sportsmen taking a front row stride in sport. One of our aims once we form government will be to try and fund other alternative sports in the country and tap into other talents apart from football which FAZ has failed to manage. The PF seems clueless in allocating resources effectively to tap into other areas of sport that we might actually be good at. We know that there are many hidden talents out there. PLease vote UPND in order to see practical changes in the sports arena

Most likely they will kill off all average ordinary Zambians so that they only remain with elite Zambians. Cheap mind set NED and all you f00ls! I can never vote for a party that thrives at insulting majority Zambians by refering to them as illiterates. I have an MBA, but I will vote with majority of my Zambian people!

I quite agree with a human phenonmena that characterise the rise and fall of most sports men and women and workers after retirement. Lack of PLANNING. There seems to be no EXIT plan: It always is BUY/BUILD a house,BUY car,Do a bit of catching up by picking up an expensive taste for Beers and women…all this out of pension money like an uncompanied farmer that comes to town to pick up an FRA cheque for a year’s labour. Repeatedly, this is common as seen of our own famous boxing legend that died a pauper. Whether it is the promoters that happily walk away with the loot or it’s sheer poor management of resources I want to know. When u deplete your u want to come back on contract, make a bid at a come back in the ring, tell dear wife back at the village that all the money was stolen by theives after cashing the FRA cheque when Chinalila a Club Zone. Aaah twalema nama Good start poor finish !!!
