Zambian Breweries Plc has been dragged to court for allegedly selling a bottle of Fanta unfit for human consumption.
The company has since pleaded not guilty to selling contaminated Fanta.
The Health Department has dragged the company to court following a complaint from a Kitwe resident who bought a bottle of Fanta containing some foreign material that was allegedly not fit for human consumption.
This is in a case in which Zambian Breweries is facing one count of Prohibition of Sale of unwholesome food contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
When the matter came up for plea on Monday before Kitwe Magistrate Prosper Mwila, Allan Bwalya, 45, a representative for Zambian Breweries denied the charge on behalf of the company.
Particulars of the offence allege that Zambian Breweries, on March 15, this year, in Kitwe, sold one bottle of Fanta that consisted of foreign matter that is unfit for human consumption. Magistrate Mwila adjourned the matter to May 8, this year, for trial.

I think the complanant just just block. He must have been the one who inserted the dangerous material in the drink. The Instinct of suffering from Edgar Lungu’s mis rule is now bearing ugly fruits.

    Zambia: Sata Loses Cockroach Case

    By Liseli Kayumba

Lusaka — If the mere sight of a cockroach even in an unopened bottle can make one sick then we should have many people suffering from cockroach seeing disease, observed judge Peter Chitengi as he dismissed minister without portfolio Michael Sata’s K385 million negligence suit.

This was in a matter in which Sata was seeking general and special damages from Zambia Bottlers for negligence and breach of statutory duty. Sata sued in September 1998 after finding a cockroach in a Sprite bottle that he had purchased from Melisa Supermarket.

The key is to prove that such a particle was there before.
This will be a good exercise for the lawyers.
