GOVERNMENT says it is geared to ending casualisation of labour in the country by June 2015.
Labour and Social Security Services Minister Fackson Shamenda said Government is reviewing Labour laws in order to curb casualisation. He said Government will soon enact legislation to prohibit casualisation in a bid to protect workers from being abused by some investors.
Mr Shamenda further said Government wants to create permanent jobs in the country and it will soon outlaw casualisation in a bid to protect workers.
The minister was speaking in Lusaka during the 2015 World Day for Safety and Health.
The minister said his ministry is considering criminalising casualisation of workers due to continued flouting of labour laws by some employers in Zambia.
He disclosed that parliament would in June this year enact a new Labour law to ban casualisation.
The Labour minister also said once the new piece of legislation is introduced, it would give workers rights to speak against injustices at places of work without fear of being victimised by employers.

Hi Zambians. Tell me what has been happening in my absence. Hope Zambia is still in good hands.
There are no jobs Mr.Fackson and there is no casual work too…what casualisation are we going to end in 2015.Besides a working economy always has casual workers at any given time…..unless your are telling us that our economy will stagnet and will never show growth in future.Anyways I hate PF but love EL so EL has to do alot of work especially in the area of getting rid of impotent ministers like Fackson. To me what Fackson is saying does not make sense.
Totally in agreement with you @KC. Shamenda must learn not to speak like HH who can say “will give title deeds to ALL people in Livingstone if voted into power!” Ubu bupuba ba shamenda! How are you going to give permanent jobs to the many Zambians who are employed by the Chinese, South African, Indian contractors who come to do seasonal jobs in Zambia? Are you going to ask them to be employed permanently for six months as they construct that bridge?
There is only one thing in life,u can’t take a listening eye if you haven’t been in it and seen for yourself, therefore its hard for them to attend to your cries.
A listening eye? Lol!

AND MOST OF THESE PEOLPLE WHO ARE ON THESE LONG TERM CONTRACTS ARE EVEN MORE QUALIFIED THAN THE PERMANENT EMPLOYEES AND PERFORM WONDERS IN THE COMPANY. PLEASE HELP US; WE HAVE SUFFERED ALOT.
