Ndola Wife BATTERER Arrested

The man, who physically abused his wife in Ndola last week, has been arrested after the victim’s father placed charges against him.
Grace Kapele, 34, was last week severely beaten by Kasongeja Malipilo who locked her in the former African Commercial Bank building on Kabelenga Avenue.
Grace, however, declined to report the matter to the Police insisting that the incident was misunderstood and that she was happy with her marriage.
This prompted Robby Kapele, the father of the victim to lodge in a complaint at the victim support unit which led to the arrest of Malipilo yesterday.
Copperbelt deputy Police chief, Byemba Musole said in an interview that the suspect was apprehended and would appear in court.
“Mr Malipilo has been arrested and he will appear before court today,” he said.
The move to arrest Malipilo was against the victim’s wish as she had earlier stated that the incident was misunderstood and she was enjoying a happy marriage.
Despite being confined to the building for one week with a swollen face and eyes, Grace declined to press assault charges against the husband.
Mr Malipilo will appear in court on May 16.

Another case of the failed women empowerment by the pf government. Lungu employed a few already powerful women and told us that is women empowerment. Meanwhile these cases show that indeed wwomen in zambia are still second class citizens and would rather face abuse than leave their husbands who are bread winners. We in the UPND promise to tackle women empowerment from the grassroots.

If there is one things I know, its that you cant rescue anyone from an abusive situation. They have to decide on their own when they have had enough and realise that its time to leave. This ‘dad’ will be embarrassed by his own daughter when the case goes to court coz she will defend her husband and he ll walk out feeling sorry he even tried to intervene. After court, she ll gladly go back to abusive husband to play wife at 22:00 hrs everyday and go through the cycle of abuse over and over again.

Ba Mudala you will not give your daughter what she wants from this so called abusive husband. Leave her alone to enjoy what he (husband) knows best to give her. Akamililila pa last akamilombe ni mwe.

And when the daughter dies at the hands of this abusive husband what are you going to advise, perhaps in retrospect? When it will be too late?
