22,000 Companies Face Deregistration
Twenty two thousand defunct companies face deregistration by the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA).
PACRA Chief Executive Officer and Registrar Anthony Bwembya says the companies and businesses face deregistration for failing to remit annual returns.
Mr Bwembya says the twenty two thousand companies and businesses have been dormant for quite some time.
He says this came to light when the agency recently conducted an exercise to ascertain how many companies and businesses are dormant.
Mr Bwembya states that the agency has since started issuing notices to find out if the owners of the businesses still want them to stay on the PACRA registers.
He explains there is a cost associated with maintaining of business records which he says are done electronically.
Mr. Bwembya says if the owners of these companies do not respond within thirty days from the date of notice, all defunct companies will be de–registered without compromise.

A clear sign of pfs failure to support the growth and sustainability of small businesses. Surely if all these companies are failing , how can a graduate starting off in life manage to sell tomato as the pf wanted us to do? We in the upnd will offer support to small businesses and ideas through chamber of commerce and integrate this in the education system. Vote upnd

Mr CEO,just go ahead with the deregistration of these UPND businesses which will never do business in Zambia.There is a very big similarity with their party as it also will never form government under the Zambian sun.

What is the registerer of societies Zambia, doing about defunct parties like PDDU, POOR PEOPLE’S PARTY, and party like MMDPF that have changed names without notify them and non remittance of annual returns, and i just pray tumfweko is not one of the 22,000, just two articles in a day, this will lead to very few people visiting your site, less money no remittance of annual returns bane.
