South Africa’s high court has temporarily prevented the deportation of more than 300 undocumented migrants.
Rights activists have criticised the arrests of more than 700 suspected illegal migrants following recent deadly xenophobic violence.
Police say they made the arrests during crime prevention operations.
The authorities have been under pressure to both bring an end to the attacks on foreigners and to introduce tighter immigration controls.

South Africa is only trying to protect its internal interests. I do not agree with violence. However we can learn from this. We can learn that we need to vote in governments like the upnd who will ensure positive economic growth and job creation. The pf has failed you and now we are so poor that we panic when foreign countries do not want us. Why can’t we produce what south Africa does. We have the capacity to do this. Pf is useless

One who ignores the fact that south is where it is because the colonial matters are still in control, is saying we should return to colonial rule to be developed…….
Zambia is better off than many African countries. And we shouldn’t be cheated.
The issue is that all African governments should stop corruption.
Why are they killing foreigners, isn’t it poverty?
Let’s not lie to each other. Lets debate real issues.
Corruption needs to stop. Politics of the belly need to stop. Professionals need to take up roles in govt above their current positions. Lastly members of parliament should be competitively recruited and not be political appointees.
There is no guarantee that upnd will make a difference for whatever reason. It is the governance structures that entertain the gaps we see.
Procurement processes leave much to be desired. Hospitals have demotivated staff with no equipment to work with nor medication to help the sick,……..
School standards have fallen so much that government schools have very few scholars to showcase their abilities.
Private schools have mushroomed much to the detriment of a child whose parents cannot afford better schools. No regulation whatsoever
What happened to our teachers?
Let’s discus real issues. If a new govt should come in, let the structures stop them from messing up.

I thought most good thinking individuals have left that God forsaken country, alas people are still fighting to stay on in tsotsi country, it’s a shame on their incompetent leaders whose mismanagement of their economies has made their citizens into nothing but economic globe-trotters.

To some extent the Xenophobic public in South Africa just expresses wishful thinking of the their Govt, and did it a favour on deportation costs, think of it over 400 Zimbabweans and 300 Malawians were transported back to their respective countries by their Govts, SA saved on legal and deportation costs actually.
