EL To Tour North Western Province, UPND Vice President Richard Kapita To Defect To PF
UPND president Hakahinde Hichilema (l) with his vice Richard Kapita
Then on Friday the President will tour Kansanshi mine and meet the chiefs in the province. The President will end his tour of the Province on Saturday when he will hold a rally in Mwinilunga.
Meanwhile UPND vice president – administration is highly expected to defect to the ruling PF during the Mwinilunga rally.

Yes the expulsion of this man has been an issue we have been discussing within internal party structures. It is not our aim for such information to be spilled by the media .However some things are beyond our control. It is good for kapita that he has saved face by instead claiming to defect whereas the truth is he knew his days were numbered. Every organisation after an election needs to reorganise itself and this is just one of those things. We are glad that kapita has gone to the pf if that allegation is true. We believe he will fit in very well. We thank you for your dismal service in the pf and wish you all the best. The upnd shall move on stronger. A clean up was necessary as we will soon form government. Root out the undesirables

We recognise Mr Kapita as one of the founder members of the Party who served as Treasurer General before his appointment as Vice President for Administration the post he is still serving.
Following Press querries and reports circulating on Social Media that he has resigned, it will be irrational and misguiding to comment.
However the Party will be stating it’s position once it receives official notification.
Like any other Party when a leader leaves, they will be other leaders that will fill the space equally. The Party has enough credible leaders to fill the vacuum.
If he is resigning to rest from Politics it is okey but if he resigning to cross over to another Party , we expect him to come out in the open and state his position. No one will question him but the people of Zambia will judge him.
Till the Party is informed officially , he still remains a member of the Party.

I would like to make you aware that kapita’s case has been an issue we have been dealing with since january 2015. Do not embarrass yourself. As we have stated, we will only issue a comprehensive statement once kapita officially communicates to us his decision. We have given him the opportunity to do so as we do not see any point expelling him.We do respect that he is a senior member and hence we want to deal with things amicably. My opinion. Tough economic weather will surely cause people to cross over to parties in power. The infamous politician once said ‘WE GO INTO POLITICS TO EAT’. Little wonder there will be defections and not necessarily to augment national interest but rather, personal. PF lost 3 times under Sata but strong willed still forged ahead got the reins of power in 2011. Money was abundant and survival was not as challenging as it is today. Well, it is which slice is well buttered…everyone wants not the crumbs but the slice..hardly can blame the defectors!!!
