Kawambwa Man Nabbed for Incest
POLICE in Kawambwa have arrested a 47-year-old man of Mutuna village in Chief Munkanta’s area for allegedly having sex with his 17-year-old daughter.
Luapula Province deputy commissioner of police Webby Shula said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened on Sunday around 21:00 hours at Mutuna village.
Mr Shula identified the suspect as Felix Mwape.
“The same evening before the commission of the alleged offence, Mwape picked up a quarrel with his wife who is a stepmother to the victim,” Mr Shula said.
He said the woman fled the house in fear of being beaten up and Mwape allegedly took advantage of her absence and had sex with his biological daughter while she was asleep.
Mr Shula said the girl reported the matter to Lewis Chanda, a member of the community crime prevention unit who escorted her to the police station to report the matter.
“Mwape is in police custody and we have launched investigations into the matter,” he said.
