UPND Will Grow Stronger Now That Kapita Has Departed- Banda
The opposition UPND has described the defection of its vice president for administration Richard Kapita to the ruling PF as an opportunity to grow stronger.
UPND vice president for politics Canisius Banda says Mr. Kapita’s departure has also created room for the party to renew itself and get better.
Dr. Banda has told Qfm News that what Mr. Kapita has left in the UPND is a vacancy and not a vacuum.
He says his party will in due course have Mr. Kapita replaced.
The UPND vice president for politics however thinks that Mr. Kapita’s decision to leave the UPND for ruling PF is personal and he should be thanked and respected in return.
He says the UPND thinks that such a decision is in keeping with Democracy and is not at variance with the country’s national law because Mr. Kapita is merely expressing a fundamental freedom of associating with a political party of his choice.
Dr. Banda states that the UPND now has a grand opportunity to learn and to restructure.
He says this is why the UPND takes Mr. Kapita’s departure as bases for gratitude to him as it has presented a chance for the party to perform better in future.

Farewell comrade Kapita
We would like to say goodbye to our dear vice president for administration Mr Richard Kapita. Mr Kapita has been a member of the party for a long time. We have fought hard battles together with comrade Kapita and walked the long walk with him. From the mountain peak in 2001 to another mountain peak in 2015 and the valleys in between.
Yes, the walk has been long and its only natural that some should tire. But we will walk on. Our walk is a life long journey. It wont even end when we form government. Our walk is a walk for a better Zambia.
We also take this opportunity to assure our members that the party in North western province and the nation at large remains very much intact. As you saw in the press, Mr Kapita left with only one other member, a councillor.
We also have many capable men and women who can fill the vacancy that Mr Kapita has left and take the party still to greater heights. Our national leadership is already working to quickly replace Mr Kapita. Announcements will be made soon.
Farewell comrade Kapita and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours. We will definitely miss your presence in the party. As they say ‘there are no permanent enemies and no permanent friends in politics, only permanent interests’. We will definitely enjoy your competition in the political field. I can see mr Kapita is realy being mourned by his comrades. What a loss!
Now it will be interesting to see what happens after the going of Kapita. If UPND is structure is genuine , Doc Banda will remain sole vice president and should succeed HH next year but even Doc Banda himself should not decieve himself. It cant possible!

My dear PF brother JJB, we in the upnd rise above petty politics and call a spade what it is. After considerable discussions with the party, we have decided to not talk on anything that would discredit Kapita’s reputation. Out of respect and knowing that he was a former VP, we have found it wise to rethink our strategy and geniunly wish him well. Alot has been suppressed as there is much more to do with this defection. However, after considerable discussions we reached a conclusion that, spilling internal issues regarding kapita will not help us in any way. We believe the zambian people are fed up with personal politics and attacks. So we genuinly wish kapita the best and hope that we can also engage him although now on different sides of the field. No matter what short comings he had, he remains a brother and a zambian, also he is a veteran politician. Am sure he deserves some respect. We just hope he can return the favour and desist from character assassinations and baseless accusations.

So if you want follow the official upnd page because I still feed information there too. Stay strong and concern yourself with internal pf issues. Defections are normal in every democratic society. The upnd is bigger than any one single person including myself and even hh.

I have told you for legal and party reasons I will not dwell into the actual reasons for kapita departure. He is gone and that is history. It is not that we do not want him. The fact is that he is not a UPND member and has never been. I challenge JJB to upload his membership card here. We have nothing against people joining our party. the only thing we wont tolerate are when people like JJB lie about being UPND in order to discredit the UPND by stating things that do not sit well with our manifesto and aims. every organisation has rules and laws, the upnd is not immune to that. we thank you

kiki mune, you seem more worried and concerned about the UPND and its membership. I thought the aim of you PF cadres would be to try and gain more supporters? Therefore i find it weird that you want to throw JJB our way. This further goes to prove that JJB is infact a liability to us and you need him to be seen as UPND so as to score you your much needed point. Moles will not be entertained. Please like the UPND official facebook page, Iam infact a moderator there too. I have access to the official upnd database and one doesnt need to be einstein to know the JJB is not UPND. Every UPND member here has seen that and infact the other day there were pleas by many uPND staunch supporters for me to set the record straigt as they thought JJB was bringing the uPND name to shame.

No fight here. The fact is that he is not a UPND member until he follows the official routes to becoming a member. He is pf member and we do not understand why he is embarrased of being open about it. Why are you PF supporters embarrased of being seen as pf supporters? Just like many others, JJb was hiding behind UPND membership in order to discredit the UPND’s aims and progress. You cannot fool official representatives of the UPND bane.

We have been consistent and all that. My worry here is that I support UPND and voted for it and will do so in 2016. I have never been to UPND office or even met HH. For me all I know is that HH is the right person for presidence of this country because he merits it. Trixy i hear your concerns. I think you have chosen to mislead yourself by reading into the misleading replies by PF cadres on my comments. All members of the UPND are equal. However, my point remains that JJB is not UPND. He has gone against what we stand for in terms of our policies and manifesto. One does not need to be einstein to see this. Please what i will ask you to do is follow most articles here carefully and see for yourself. I would rather you judges for yourself because there have been concerns my hardcore upnd supporters here over JJB’s allegiance. Look guys in politics one needs to have allegiance and loyalty. You cannot eat from two plates. This is why for example kapita has left. One needs to decide which side to follow. better still state that you are a neutral supporter. Imagine if HH went against UPND policy, would you be saying the same? I will reiterate that JJB is not UPND member,that does not translate into one member being better than the other. simple logic

kiki you seem so upset. As I have said, I have been stopped by legal reasons to comment on the actual hard facts behind this unexpected defection. Yesterday i alluded to what others saw as the reasons behind his departure or wherein forced departure. However, legal reasons have meant that we cannot as of yet anyway get into the details of what transpired. Unexpected to the wider public although not to us internal offical members. Why do you think our reaction is laid back? We know that there is no loss on our side but just room to rethink strategy and also reorganise. We will surely replace kapita. No one person is sacred in this party. we have upcoming young leaders who are upto the job. Kapita has joined your party so why keep goin on and on about the UPND. We now want to hear your views on the various economic failings e.g. price of fuel, copper scandals and also the corrupt loans. Maybe kapita will not atleast answer things on your behalf in a more coherent and articulate way since atleast he learned from learned people in the UPND.

The only ones raving on about kapita are yourselves. We have said that it is sad he has given up the fight but we wish him well. We just hope he could be mature in approach and avoid personal attacks on upnd leadership. Hh has not even responded to him because that is how much of factor kapita is. You may all be aware that prior to the January 20,2015 Presidential bye-elections, the UPND had already formed a Government after seeing a deflated PF.
The UPND government so-formed at some residential houses in Rhodes Park only had people from one tribe.When other tribes cried foul, they were told in their faces that they are not from the special tribe and so could not be given any positions in the shadow-government.They were then asked to leave or just get-lost. So began the circle of resignations.More are still to follow………soon…
