Lafarge To Forcefully Award 5% as salary increament against 432 Million 2015 profit made

Dear editor,
President Lungu on Labor Day urged investors not to take Zambian workers for granted, but that they must improve workers conditions of service.
Lafarge cement has up to now not paid its unionized workers  there salary increment, they have from January  only offered 5% increment on unionized workers salaries which comes to K170 for majority of its employees. Other companies which are not doing as good as lafarge in terms of profits are paying far much better.
Lafarge recently announced a K432 million profit made this year, but are only willing to give a 5% increment saying they have no Money for our increment as this profit is for the French people.
Mr Shamenda, why have you turned your blind eye and deaf ears to the long cry of lafarge employees? Why can’t you come and find out for yoself from the employees themselves?
Don’t go to the top office bearers, they will bribe you, they are always protecting their Jobs.
The Ministry of Labor is dead, non functional. Is Shamenda alive or he is busy preparing to become the next Liato? The new MD Mr Emmanuel Regaux has also been misled by a bunch of these selfish inhuman Zambian managers we have..typical traitors.
What they are promised when they exploit us we don’t know we don’t know. This Lafarge MD does not even respect our labor laws, he says he is here to make huge Profits and not to pay us well.
Last year they gave a 12% increment on paper but only paid 3% of the 12% negotiated and signed for. 3% is what appeared on the payslips. The other 9% is unexplained for.  The Ministry of labor knows but they are quiet.
Now the managers who are tasked to negotiate with the unions are being caught up in thefts of millions of kwacha, when on table they were busy telling union officials that the company has no money. How come they are stealing millions of kwacha when there is no money?
The new Lafarge HR Director Techra Milambo is very bad, short tempered and unprofessional, the lady doesn’t understand her job well. She is drunk with power, K60,000 salary, K7000 weekend allowance and a 100% education support for her children at any expensive school. She lacks necessary experience in this field of HR.
Why doesn’t our Govnt have laws to punish those not following labour laws, seriously how can we allow salary negotiations to go as far as June and still not concluded? We have a lot of issues that are not right in our conditions of service. We see how Lafarge spends huge amounts of monies on unnecessary things but fails to pay workers well. Is it slavery?
President Lungu should appoint a new Minister

I blame your union which must be very weak. How do u sign a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of 12% & you get paid 3%? That is fraud/theft by your company & is enough to fire ammunition even strike!Again how did they forcefully award you 5% without signing a CBA by union & mgt? So if you say on payslip its 3% & this time its 5% awarded its better then than the previously 3% , isn’t it?…Anyway that aside my company gave me an increment of 4 % & that resulted into (K4000) increment to my basic. Also typical of tonga managers (Milambo)they are a problem every they manage.Am sure most workers @ Lafarge will be now Tongas .Yikes!

So you even went to sleep with so contented with chainama like knowledge. Wake up two dullards.

You are ignorant, Thecra Milamba is Tonga, and just to let you know the statement in the article is right, she is very selfish and will say or do anything as long as it benefits her. She is not one you can rely on to help you push your agenda and believe me the last thing on her mind is the welfare of the employees. She was at Nestle Zambia before joining Lafarge and what has been highlighted here is the same behaviour she exhibited at Nestle. She is a “muzungu anikonde type”, and as long as it suits her the rest of the employees can hang.its pipo like her that have allowed foreigners to take advantage of the hardworking zambian employee and all the while we want to blame the government.

Like I said, you are ignorant! The point is not about Thecra, the point is about pipo like her who cause the perpetuation of situations like what is going on at Lafarge. Believe me when foreigners come and they want to put in place policies/practices that harm the well being of the locals they usually use some of our own by offering them good pays so they can be the ones ‘whipping’ the locals on behalf of foreigner. this has happened even in historical times when the whites came they used local pipo to capture fellow blacks and give them off to the whites for slavery, in certain cases for so little as a bottle of rum or a mirror. Her position as HR manager is to help bring harmony between the company and the employees not to help the company abuse or take advantage of the employees while she on the back end of it is recking in thousands!

Ba Mark, sit down before you injure your brain explaining wrong data. It is not the job description of a HR Manager to bring harmony in a workplace. That is for unions. HR Department is there to ensure that lazy asses of your kind follow laid down procedure, work the shift they get paid for and abide by the conditions of service they were employed under! So, the evils you have described are what is obtaining, I believe that is what you signed for! Leave that Tonga babe alone! Her work means you do yours. If it is unfair, sh!t, Raise It with your UNIONS!! Or go to Industrial Relations Court!

@Palo you right, when will these Unions stop negotiation for salary increments using percentage sh*t,which is nothing for a low paid employee, why can’t they take a leaf from ZUFIAW on how they negotiated for finance bank workers.

You are better off. We got 4 percent amounting to K100 or less for the majority! I agree with you. The labour ministry and shamenda have been a great disappointment to the workers.

Seeking the intervention of Shamenda is a sheer waste of time and other resources. The man is now finished by the K120,000.00 he is supposed to pay Dangote and has become hopelessly useless as a Labour Minister.

The answer for you is to go to school, get an education and also become a HRO? I remember you making this same cry 14 months ago. If the conditions are that pathetic, why not leave the rubbish & go try farming, charcoal burning or prostitution? You may as well get a profit! Here is a secret for your lazy ballz: No one ever got rich working for another person!!! You can only do so by applying yourself in your own workplan. Ati share profits equally……. ulicipuba? Even if you licked hakainde’s backside while you herd his ng’ombe, do you think he will give you 250 heifers if 500 were culved under your watch? Awe cacine muli busushi yama!

Ministers, permanent secretaries and district commissioners conniving with the so called c.e.o’s especially from parastatal companies putting the lives of innocent employees in poverty because of unlawful dismissals from employment. innocent people have continued to loose employment while the so called c.e.o’s and top managements have continued stealing and destroying these companies giving bad picture to the government of the day. Please Mr. president work up because people are so far happy with yo governing and would want you to continue in 2016 most employees have no say over their rights and in most cases these are innocent hard working employees.
