ECZ Clarifies Rescheduling Of Voter Registration

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says the rescheduling of the dates for the commencement of the voter registration exercise has nothing to do with lack of funding from Government.

The Commission has attributed the rescheduling of the voter registration exercise to delays in the procurement of equipment and materials.

ECZ Public Relations Manager Crispin Akufuna says the assumption of lack funding from government is only but wishful thinking.

Mr Akufuna says the commission has funds available for the procurement of equipment for the voter registration exercise ahead of the 2016 general election.

Mr. Akufuna has reiterated in an interview with Qfm News that the delays have only been with the process of procurement.

He explains that the procurement process involves a lot, the reason why the commission opted to postpone the voter registration to allow the process run its course.
