A CATHOLIC priest in Mwense has been fined K 5,500 by a local court for having an affair with a married woman.
40 year old Mwense Parish priest Father Kennedy Kachinga appeared before Mwense Boma Presiding Local Court Magistrate Charles Kasenge.
Facts before the court are that Father Kachinga was seeing a local businessman’s wife.
The court further heard that the businessman found two half naked photographs of his wife, which were taken in the priest’s bathroom.
In submission, the local businessman requested the priest to compensate him for interfering in his marriage.
However, Father Kennedy Kachinga refused to compensate the local businessman as he charged that he was not the cause of the marital problems.
And in passing judgment, the presiding local court magistrate ordered the priest to pay five thousand, five hundred kwacha compensation, for marriage interference to be paid in 21 monthly installments.
