Over 150 UPND members in Katuba constituency have defected to the ruling Patriotic Front.
And Former UPND Chilo Ward Chairperson Shadreck Mudenda says he has joined the ruling party to foster development in the constituency.
Mr Mudenda says the constituency has remained stagnant under the current area member of parliament.
Receiving the defectors, PF Katuba Constituency Treasurer Moses Chilandu said the party will work with the defectors to foster development in the constituency.
Mr Chilandu, who is also Katuba PF aspiring candidate for the 2016 General Elections has urged the defectors to invite more members from the UPND to join the ruling party.
Among the members who defected include former UPND Organiser Peter Chelo, UPND Katuba Chairlady Sekina Mudenda and others.
Meanwhile, Senior Headman Kalusa says he has also joined the ruling party in a bid to improve the agricultural sector in the constituency.
But UPND Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo says the defected members have a democratic right to move to their preferred political party.
Mr Lifwekelo says the UPND has equally received a number of members from the ruling party thereby creating equilibrium.
He, however, says the development is a wakeup call for the party to work extra hard ahead of the 2016 General Election.

Creating equilibrium, how can it be so when a lot of UPND pipo are joining Pf in daily basis. Just yesterday over 700 upnd in Kanyama constituency, joined the ruling party.

The problem with the ruling pf is that their. ZNBC only talks about them. So those claims are doubtful.
