ZESCO Suspends The Export Of Power To Neighboring Countries

ZESCO-TECHNICIANS-624x361THE Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) has suspended the export of power to neighboring countries due to the current electricity deficit the country is facing.

ZESCO Spokesperson Henry Kapata told ZANIS in Lusaka that the company will only resume power exports when it has excess electricity.Mr. Kapata explained that ZESCO cannot be irrational as to export power when it is rationing electricity supply to the Zambian people because of the serious shortage.

He said this in reaction to concerns from some members of the public that the power utility company was still exporting electricity to neighboring countries when the local people were not satisfied with the supply.

Mr. Kapata argued that those accusing ZESCO of exporting power were misleading the citizens.Lusaka and many other parts of the country have lately been experiencing load shedding of up to eight hours in a day.

Good move by ZESCO.It was difficult to understand the move while we still experience blackouts.

@ the opposition doesn’t offer solutions only criticize, ain’t this move as a result of UPND earlier demand for zesco to halt power supply to neighboring countries, ain’t this not also beneficial even to the PFool cadres with diarrhea of the mouth?

    these are just political gimmicks,
power is being exported thats why we have loadshedding. the gov’t have 20 billion short fall on budget. rising from reverting tax on mines; power is being exported to make up for abrupt loss of revenue.

we had enough rains for power, the rains were not good for crops, because of 1 month dry spell.

    RB gimanastics back,
This is exactly the suffering we went through when RB was president. Selling power to enrich himself. EL following the same path.
The mentor has even been acquitted of plunder and theft.
