Woman Who Collapsed In Church When exchanging Marriage Vows Dies
ELI Kayula, the former Times of Zambia foreman whose bride collapsed as they were exchanging vows at Pamodzi Catholic Church in Ndola on Saturday and later died in hospital, says he didn’t expect such an outcome.
Theresa Bwalya, 66 and Kayula were exchanging marriage vows in the church when she fell unconscious and was rushed to Ndola Central Hospital.
Kayula, 76 was left standing at the altar to finish the proceedings as his bride was evacuated to hospital, where she was admitted in a critical condition, and later died.
In an interview, Kayula said Bwalya had a history of high blood pressure.
“I didn’t anticipate such an outcome because she was fine on Friday and Saturday until we got to the church where she complained of having a blackout before falling ill,” said Kayula.
Hospital public relations officer Sheona Chalimbana said Bwalya died on Sunday evening.
