MORE than 200 school girls have dropped out of school after falling pregnant in Mansa, a 2014 report has indicated.
The report compiled by the District Commissioner’s office indicated that the pregnant girls included those from as low as grade four to secondary school level and totalled 205.
Acting District Commissioner Mweetwa Sikabbubba has appealed for concerted measures to curb early pregnancies among school girls.
Mr Sikabbubba appealed to Members of Parliament, traditional leaders and education authorities to embark on a programme to stop early marriages and pregnancies.
“The purpose of my writing to you is to request you our royal highnesses, MPs, ward councillors and heads of Government departments to come in and combine efforts in the fight against early child marriage and child pregnancy,” he said.
He directed the education board secretary, to provide detailed information on the names, ages of each affected pupil and information on the persons responsible for the pregnancies, within two weeks.
The schools with the highest drop outs due to pregnancy in Mansa were Mansa Secondary at 24 pregnancies followed by Mabumba Secondary School at 14.
Among the primary schools, Namwandwe Primary School was the worst hit at 12.

With the high levels of poverty and hunger under pf many men have lost the will and desire to admire women. I was in Zambia the other week and was surprised that the street boys were so weak and hungry to shout and whistle at women in revealing clothes

Ask HH to lend you some money so that you feed the street boys in order for them to have energy to harass mental patients like you.

This is a 2 sided problem. First there seem to be little or no moral and sex education in schools imagine does a kid in grade 4 even know doing this will result into a baby? Secondly, there seem to be more and more perverted matherfalker teachers who are preying on sch kids turning it into a free for all sex fashion. Best way out culprits should be fired and blacklisted in all teaching services and their names published in newspapers.

This gives sad reading but is not shocking under the pf. Load shedding, budget deficit, university closing etc. The pf has failed zambia and in 2016 only a retarded person will vote pf. Vote upnd.

A retarded person is one who thinks that UPND or any other political party is the panacea to all their problems and blames any current government for their woeful life which is just a result of their own laziness and insanity.

Sad development. If that were average, we’d say Luapula with 9 or 10 districts may have had 1,200 girls out of school as at December 31st, 2014. THAT IS A WHOLE SCHOOL,The sad part is that three are instances where education authorities shield their rank and file who pump these kids. Now, this DC has requested for the perpetrators of this crime. Chances are that why’ll draw a blank and the story will end here. At the end of two weeks, Mr DC, update the nation.

@JJB we need to come up with a sex offender’s list, just like the U.S. About 2 weeks ago , a grade 3 kid was brutally raped by the head teacher. One of these DIY unregistered schools. That guy will be arrested but when he is out, he ll be free to roam and look for another job without any history to follow him around.
@kakolwe The DCs only talk when they want to be in the papers so the president can see that they are working. Maybe if the re entry program is scrapped and the girls are taken to zns while they complete school, bambi bakalamwenako nokutina.
@kloe, @tutu didn’t disappoint as usual. I guess am not the only one who is a secret fan of his profanities. Waiting for @Chief to feature. Lol.
