Tonga chiefs of Southern Province say they will not accept to be dragged into tribal politics.
The President’s Special assistant for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda has confirmed to journalists this evening that this follows President Edgar Lungu’s meeting with four chiefs from southern province two days ago.
The chiefs that that met President Lungu include Chieftainess Mwenda, Chief Sindabwe, Chief Chipepo and Chief Simamba
And Mr. Chanda says President Lungu had a cordial conversation with the traditional leaders.
He says President Lungu met the chiefs on sidelines of the inspection of the Kariba dam.
Mr. Chanda explains that the chiefs assured president Lungu of their continued support.
He adds that President Lungu also met paramount chief Mpezeni and also held cordial talks.
The President’s Special assistant for Press and Public Relations states that President Lungu is impressed with the maturity shown by chief Mpezeni.
He has also disclosed that the President is next week expected to meet an envoy from the Gawa Undi kingdom.
