Reliable sources at Nkana FC indicate that Nkana Fc management have cancelled a friendly match against PSL Giants Mamelodi Sundowns set for Thursday at Nkana Stadium.
The cancellation is said to come in the wake of pressure from fans not to play the match due to the upcoming ZSL second round match against Red Arrows in Lusaka over the weekend.
” There was pressure from fans not to play the friendly which is not as important as the league, fans were worried what would happen if an key player got injured as well as issues of fatigue is Nkana would play against Red Arrows after only two days, these factors has led to management cancelling the match despite having initially wanted to host” said the source.
Sundowns are in the country for a preseason training camp, its second in two years when it visited Zambia in early 2014 and played in a preseason tournament as well as a match against Nkana FC at Arthur Davies Stadium which Sundowns won 1-0.
Nkana will be back in action when it comes up against Red Arrows in the first match of the second round of the ZSL.
