A 24-YEAR-OLD Zambian student who was studying in China has died after falling ill in that country.
Yanick Sanga, who was a second year student at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, died last Friday at Nanfang Hospital.
Father of the deceased, Benny Sanga, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the death of his son.
This is according to a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday by Ministry of Foreign Affairs public relations officer Dorcas Chileshe.
“The family of the deceased is making arrangements to travel to Guangzhou, China, to facilitate the repatriation of the body to Zambia for burial,” Ms Chileshe said.
And Ministry of Education spokesperson Hillary Chipango said the deceased was on self-sponsorship pursuing finance and business studies.
Mr Chipango said the ministry is saddened by the death of a young person who could have contributed to the growth of the country.
“As a ministry, we are saddened by the death of the student who could have contributed greatly to the country,” he said.
Thats sad more especially that Zambians are being failed by their PF Govt for a young man to go to China for studies on self sponsorship. MHSRIP
Whats wrong if the parents can affort.?what does the govt got to do with this
If the Govt sponsored him, his parents would have used that money/resources to help his siblings or other family expenses. Now his parents have lost a son and ALL the investment they thought would come and help the family in future. Are we together? one example one outside trip by the President and his entourage would pay for about 3 students to do a 4 year bachelors degrees tuition.
@JJB, if you become comfortable bankwise and having passed through great east road campus; would you send your child to UNZA? Boyi, even if Mulyokela (with his K1pin per child) came to be president, my boys will study elsewhere!! Those scanty BCs & time wasted throwing stones at decent citizens’ property ain’t any motivation.
3 students is even a gross under-estimation. Presidential trips are extremely expensive.
Probably malaria, very few countries know how to diagnose and treat this tropical diseases.
May his soul rest in peace.
MHSRIP. Now let us watch the pathetic useless pf government do nothing to help. In the first place people are going abroad to study because the pf chaps have led to closure of CBU. Surely what did we do to deserve such a party in power? where did we go wrong bane? In 2016 i beg you all to turn out in numbes and vote upnd.
Bla bla bla NEZ, The closure of CBU was a simple issue. It was one stubborn Naison Ngoma who caused that fracas. He’s a selfish stupid idiot who started running the institution on commands. He feared nobody or take advice from any junior. Govt intervened with a firm approach, am happy the idiot has been sent on forced leave, soon the institution will reopen and sanity will return. Just take heart NEZ,The revolution you always talk about ll not be soon. Mind you people still remember how you almost speared Sakwiba Sikota & others at Mulungushi who i believe were the rightful candidates to replace Mazoka or at least if you had exercised real democracy UPND would have formed govt long ago. The fear we’ve with UPND is uncertainty, i believe in 10yrs to come maybe a new generation can give this man a chance.
Which man? Which chance? @Baba, there ain’t no chance coming to that man anytime soon.
Being headstrong ain’t a mark of leadership! He’ll keep on burgeoning his head against the wall but all he will get is a bold head. Tomorrow, the entire upnd will realise that what has cost them power is having a sugar coated chloroquin tablet as their leader. The electorate have swirled this tablet too long such that the coating has dissolved away! It is time to spit it out. Hakainde’s next beating shall deal a fatal blow to upnd. I TELL YOU?
