Regina Jailed 18 Months

Former Zambia Railways Director of Finance Regina Mwale has been jailed for 18 months for abuse of authority of office.

Ndola Principal Resident Magistrate Obister Musukwa sent Ms. Mwale to jail this morning after her mitigation through Defence lawyer Mulilo Kabesha.

Magistrate Musukwa passed the verdict of 18 months imprisonment on Ms. Mwale on each of the two counts of abuse of authority of office.

Magistrate Musukwa however stated that the two sentences will run concurrently.

Ms. MWALE was charged with abuse of authority of office by authorizing the payment of over 72 thousand kwacha to Falls Ways Apartments for accommodation of former Zambia Railways Chief Executive Officer Professor Clive Chirwa.

Professor Chirwa was however, acquitted yesterday by Magistrate Musukwa.

Magistrate Musukwa observed that the prosecution failed to prove a case against Professor Chirwa beyond reasonable doubt.

Set the lady Ms Mwale free from prison, she was too junior and anyone can rightly tell that she was working on someone’s orders.

This is sad. Who was the other signatory to these payments? This lady cannot start and end such a thing alone! Cheques are signed by at least two persons, an accountant and someone heading that institution.

Lesson to those in such offices, make sure you get written authority and file it properly before making any payment, especially ‘orders’ from superiors.

The lesson we should all learn from this is that we should not give blind loyalty to our superiors. They can leave us in a lot of problems, especially when they give verbal instructions.

In as much as I have a gut feeling that she has been judged unfairly, in a way she is paying for her pride and pompousity. She would boast of how she attained her degree at CBU, how many men are after her, the cars she drives, what her siblings are doing – Monica in SA, so and so in Germany, her nice house, etc. etc. No wonder none of those men married her, it was just “heat & run” leaving her with bastard children. LET HER DETERIORATE FOR 18 MONTHS.

Always be careful with bosses. They will use you and ensure it will not be traced back to them. I had such a boss but I always outwitted him by insisting albeit politely that he appends his authority to the document especially the imprest.

funny you are the only one that has expressed such a feeling of going to europe being something special. If you have noticed I let people know of my whereabouts even when I visited kasama. SO where in that can u deduce that I harbour such feelings? Very dull chap. Greetings from geneva
