SAD: Man Dies In Accident
A 19-year old man has died on the spot and another is nursing injuries at Mpongwe Mission Hospital after they were hit by a vehicle which they had hitch-hiked.
Copperbelt deputy commissioner of police Byemba Musole said in an interview on Sunday that the accident happened on Saturday around 05:00 hours at Kanyenda trading area in Mpongwe.
Mr Musole identified the deceased as Elvis Chibwabwa, who sustained head injuries and died on the spot, while Rodgers Kalusa had a broken left leg.
He said the driver, Nelson Nyeleti, 19, was reversing the vehicle, which hit the would-be passengers who had flagged him down.
“We have charged him with causing death by dangerous driving,” he said.

The silly author of this story from Zambia Daily Mail did not need to embarrass himself to the whole country.All he needed was to suspend his laziness for a minute,pick up a dictionary and check for the meaning of the word ‘hitch-hike’.His idiocy would not have been known countrywide.By the way,what is the job of editors?

Actually its you who should be stupid, “hitchhiked” thats a past tense, meaning they had already boarded the vehicle,hitchhiking is the act of standing by the road side waiting for transport. So it would have been “..they were hit by a vehicle which they were hitchhiking”. By the way its one word. Now havent you learnt something today?

What is why pipo fail exams not reading properly misunderstang etc.in laymans they where standing on the side of the road rising signal for a lift, driver stoped to give a lift, while the vehicle was reversing the two hikers were running towards the car in the process they where hit before they boarded the car.

any proper vehicle that is road worthy would have stopped. After further investigation they will find out that the brakes on that probably 1978 datsun were not effective.

The vehicle is a Hino light truck packed at Mpongwe police station. The deceased fell from the moving vehicle and was reportedly drunk when he boarded.
