UNZA students this morning ran amock to press for the release of their results.
Their results have been withheld by lecturers who are demanding for their salary increment.
But yesterday government announced that it has released K30 million to go towards settling the lecturers salaries.
The students blocked the Great East Road at 07:20 burning tyres and logs forcing motorists to find alternative routes.

Some educated people are fools. Is that they way grievances are resolved. Even at Soweto Market, the Marketeers resolve their problems maturely.

marketeers at soweto shit in empty chibuku packs. Is that what you call solving things maturely. If you have benefited from spoils of looted economy just enjoy and wait for your fate. Stupid idiot.

Lets work hard to promote responsibility in all citizens.HE you cant always govern with a soft hand. Kambwili is right we just fear him because most Zambians are not straight foward. Why not identifying those lecturers and dismis them because such lecturers make students fail and cook results

What has the road they are destroying got to do with their exam results? Why not target the lecturers who seem to have also chosen the same method as the students in pressing for demands. This running battle should have been STUDENTS Vs LECTURERS and not the roads that we all need. Imagine, the GRZ is making good roads and the few students are reversing the gains. SHAME to them all.

I cry when I see my country going through such. Imwe bantu everyhting is falling over with this PF government. A lack of economic plan or vision coupled with PF’s lack of effective economic management means that vital sectors such as education are not spared in feeling the economic heat. What we are seeing is bound to get worse should we vote this minions in 2016. we ask that you vote UPND so that sound economic management is brought back to this great nation

Where did those students come from? As far as I know, unza is on recess ! Police should Cage those thugs for trying to tarnish the image of our university! That’s why you fail to find jobs as no employer would be interested to sign riotous graduates.

Evevry time i see such happenings, my heart bleeds. Homestly why should we always wait for riots in order for us to respond to such serious issues? What are the authorities doing in those offices if they can’t find solutions for our lecturers? If we continue to tolerate these behaviars then in the near future our high learning institution will loose its deserved diginity/

It seems to me that the pf govt does not have the political will to resolve problems at UNZA. Releasing 30 million to liquidate a debt of 150 million tells us how half-hearted they are in dealing with this issue. No wonder our why our public universities are ranked so lowly even in Africa becoz of closures. Shame!

Show me a mature student taking part in these acts of self degradation I will thump him. Its the young that are used who do not even know how a meal is brought to the table that waste precious time to closures. UNZASU…can we have peaceful demos

Make me understand this, those of you who are well versed with unionism and labour laws:
1. At what point do students’ results become a bargaining chip?
2. At what point do students’results become a declaration of dispute.
3. How does the release of the students’ results describe ‘labour withholding’ by lectures.
This withholding of results by lectures vis-a-vis riotous behavior of UNZA students leave much to be desired.
